We missed Michael in the play off final.
Think he has looked really good in pre-season.
The engine!

General Discussion / 4 team Challenge Cup
« on: July 18, 2018, 09:45:37 AM »
I see both  Liege Warsaw (UCL) and Rangers (EL) both won their respective qualifiers last night.

Would hope to see quite a few of their 1st team players at the Walks this weekend.
Rangers don't have any more pre-season games lined up this weekend. Wonder if Stevie G will be down watching his fringe players?

Although its U23 (modern name for reserves) this is a top draw pre-season event.

Hope people come out and support.

Local Poles
Local Scots

Great opportunity for those to see their teams.

General Discussion / The Bar
« on: July 10, 2018, 03:33:00 PM »
It seems each thread gets hijacked into the lack of activity around the Blue & Gold
So here is a thread to discuss what could be done.

For me on match day the biggest issue is the position of the Blue & Gold in relation to the turnstile.
Back in the day folk would come through the turnstile straight into the bar. Hence it was vibrant pre and post match.
Now all the entrances and most exit are the other end of the ground. So footfall doesnt reach the B&G, naturaly. The cafe bar is still relativley busy. This splits the customers. So the B&G, which is bigger seems quiet.

Dont even think about opening the B&G as a pub venue.
Pubs and clubs are dieing, unless have prime location or something unique to offer.

I think there maybe some licence restriction as to events at the B&G. However if this could be overcome, could be a good venue for local bands to play. Would need to build a following

General Discussion / Positive vibes
« on: June 21, 2018, 01:49:00 PM »
Good to see and hear lots of positive vibes coming out of the The Walks Stadium.
Even those who were on the end of suggested negatives from SC, such as Greg Plummer have talked positively of stuff going on behind the scenes.
Rome wasn't built in a day.
Long may we continue on this journey to the promised land. With a smile

All chairmen get stick. Goes with the territory.
However some of the stick SC gets seems a little harsh. As I have posted before, I am sure he agrees he has scored a few own goals.

So I pose this question:-

"Within realms of possibility, what are your top three wishes from SC"

Make them realistic and doable. Please support suggestions with expected outcomes and results. Evidence of results elsewhere would be good.

Over to you.

General Discussion / Monday Monday............. slough
« on: May 03, 2018, 02:22:23 PM »
The atmosphere was pretty good v Weymouth. Attendance was good. Good to see some faces there.
Monday needs to go up another notch.

No excuse for non attendance. Bank holiday may be a family day, however why not bring the family? Kids under 11 free!! What a first game it could be for the other half and kids!!

And the club......
Get someone out there selling stuff. Scarves, shirts, hats. Better to sell off now than sit in stock all summer.
Lets have a sea of blue and gold.

Music better last night, shame it distorts! Pump it up with anthems. :scarf:

General Discussion / Atmosphere

Need to really create an atmosphere Wednesday and hopefully Monday.
The walks used to be quit hostile now its a bit too nice.
The pre match music needs to be pumping.
Town called malice
Rock and roll star
I predict a riot

A show of colour. Scarves swirling above heads.

Then from the off need to get the n their players backs. Every tackle of theirs boo’d
Long hair over weight get them. Proper sledging.
Every Lynn attack tackle shot should be applauded and aclaimed.

All inside the law but every supporter should go for it.
Operation hostile

General Discussion / THE PITCH

THE PITCH
The Walks pitch has always been an issue. It sits below the water table.
If you look at the water sitting in the middle of the Walks Park, I think all the clues are there to the issue.

As my reply above. Our pitch is better at this time of year than many years previous. The conditions we have by geography plus the wet weather this winter and spring have had serious impact, whoever has been looking after the pitch has done pretty well in the face of issues out of their control. I am sure all parties would of liked it better, including the groundsman.
How many games have we lost to weather? Kettering and Weymouth have lost more!!

General Discussion / Good management, again
« on: January 31, 2018, 10:11:26 AM »
Well done again IC.
Took the game to Hereford and made tactical changes that ultimately led to the victory.

My thoughts, although possible error for second Hereford goal, the defence played well last night

General Discussion / Policeman knee
« on: January 31, 2018, 10:08:48 AM »
I heard on the grapevine that a policeman received a bad injury last night. Maybe accidental.
Any update on what happened? How is he/she?
Was this the victim who was being stretchered off in police van?
