General Discussion / Re: Dear Mr Cleeve

Tend to agree with that but always been that way.
The volunteer cycle changes regularly.
At different stages over 40 yrs I have helped the club one way or another. Not done anything for probably 20 yrs. Other than sponsor matches.
I have seen people come with great ideas and enthusiasm only to get bored or realise their way isn't as easy as they thought. Wherever you get a voluntary committee you get conflict also.
The Bobbins had some great volunteers. However...…………..
Its not all the current chairman's fault or his predecessor, its just churn.

There is always potential for unwanted worry or exuberance when you simply publish numbers.
In most cases you need an accountant to talk you through, be it healthy or unhealthy looking numbers.
I'm a business man and would never trust my own judgement on an a simple spread sheet.

I find it amusing when it comes to money we should or shouldn't spend.
Buster was lambasted for not investing in the team.
Cleeve is having a go. Guess what? He is getting stick from some quarters.

Unless we as supporters want to put real money up (THOUSANDS), we should enjoy the entertainment that those who have invested feel they can provide us.

In reality I would love to be going to the game for £10 not £13
Then again I would rather pay £13 than having to work continuously on fundraising events and still have to be paying into those fundraising events to raise money to operate the club. If we went down this route I would guess a few would be paying in time and money much much more.

General Discussion / Re: Play offs this season

This has always been an almost impossible question to answer.
For many years there were basically two South leagues and one Northern feeding into one National league (conference). What cant be determined is the geographic location of teams relegated. Could be 3 north no south etc etc. This then places an imbalance on leagues below. Meaning those leagues need a shuffle. Something we have been caught foul of a few times.
The conference second tier north/south was an attempted solution to this issue whilst raising the standard below the top non league. However it still leaves the potential relegation issue.
So you could have 3 second tier conference. However that still doesn't resolve the relegation potential issue from above. It also would mean you have, potentially 22 extra teams trying to compete at a level above their weight and/or a dilution of quality within the second leagues of non-league.
Currently the conference are reluctant to send too many teams down or it could be said accept too many up, as this may also lead to a dilution of quality etc. The step up from Step 3 is big. We have seen those that have romped step 3 struggle year on year in conference nth/sth. Look at Hereford and FC Utd.
So, its almost an impossible impasse.
You cant get two pints in a pint pot, with spillage.
And spillage is what we are seeing regards the frustration of complicated promotion and relegation.

I don’t know how ins and outs but I do know that you can get a zero rating for simply not having paperwork on site during visit.

Between full time managers, we released a few fringe players who made up numbers such as McQuade and Hilliard

Hard to disagree with any of you on the face of it.
However had those ugly defeats been ugly wins, we would of taken it as going in the right direction.

General Discussion / Clarke (balance)
« on: January 02, 2019, 09:17:14 AM »
Without any doubt I believe we are in better hands with Ian Culverhouse than we where with Clarke.
However maybe there should be some balance regards Clarkes results and our relative poor start.
Lowestoft result aside, we lost at home to Biggleswade, Stourbridge and away at Kettering.
These are all teams who have proved to be pace setters in the league. Was unfortunate those "big" games so early. At a time when rebuilding.
As I started, glad to have Culverhouse back but on reflection remember we had a tough start to the season.
Now onwards and upwards.

Probably a bit harsh that
Lynn started very well. Could you easily of been 3 up within first 10 mins.
Bedworth wetherd storm and played ok on the break
For me lynn went a bit to direct second half. Much better when Hawkins in a more roaming role always look forward Jed more dangerous when Fraser pushed forward
Disappointing result but no need for overly negative reports.

I think what the players are asking is that be it 277 please make some noise as if there are 2777.
