You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

Or maybe you can ????

Football clubs used to encompass such as athletic, united, city etc and more latterly, afc, sports and olympic to name some more recent innovations. Perhaps we should set a new trail blazing trend: Bizarre king's Lynn Town?

But to me the whole idea of promotion seems ridiculous......with the greatest respect to the team who have developed a great team spirit and are managing to grind out some decent results, the squad is miles away from what would be required to stay in the NL and the structure and finances seem light years away ....and there's the rub.....what are the club looking to achieve?

Only one or possibly two men can answer your question?

If we start talking about players having jobs outside of football then we start fishing in a completely different pool.

As for the blame game Manager are always quick to put out mistakes made by officials.  Like they are anything different to anyone else.  Managers are very cautious though to call out a player who has given away a goal, missed that golden chance.  To easy to shift the blame onto the officials.  They are an easy target.

Maybe with what AL was able to put on the bench yesterday ( not a game changer in sight) then where does he lay the blame for that one.?

I suppose it could be said that if a club is serious about promotion, they should never find themselves in that position.

Therefore, IF there are people to "blame" the shortlist is, well, Short!

Perhaps it's Joe's fault?

Just watched AL's post match interview. Seemed quite defensive: blaming officials, injuries, travelling etc perhaps with some justification but players might feed off this and use it as an excuse for under performance and poor outcomes?

"It's not my fault" culture.

It's everywhere these days, not just football. Get it off my desk, onto someone else's so they can deal with it.

Officials. Do Managers, players and supporters ever not criticise officials? If they do compliment, it's very rare

Injuries. All teams go through this at sometime during the season. It's part of football. Were South Shields injury free?

Travelling. Have they stopped the overnight stays? If not, that shouldn't even come into it. It's a waste of Chairmans money if he has to pay for expensive overnight stays but the Manager and players still believe that travelling is an issue. Maybe they should consider stopping the overnight stays and put the money into additional players. Anyway, I didn't think AL had a problem with doing lots of miles.

Agree Rod, if players are looking for an excuse, they'll latch onto this. Not exactly what you would call.motivational.

I wonder how they would cope as part timers holding down a job outside of football and having to ask for time off to travel to away games. This used to be a common occurrence at this level and probably still is for a number of Lynn's less cossetted rivals?!

I remember it well. I can even remember seeing players working on the day of a game!

May or may not be anything to do with it, but wasn't watching football and being a supporter of your local team, and the actual match day experience, far more enjoyable in those days?   :dontknow:

I agree. Probably due in no small part to player's then playing primarily for their love of the game, with the 'beer money' clubs paid them being something of a bonus. It would have been exceptional for all of the wrong reasons to sign someone who had failed at a more senior level but was in all likelihood attracted his only chance of another full time contract?

Aldershot beaten 2-0 at home too lowly Wealdstone this lunchtime.   If you have a bicycle Tommy keep the tyres well pumped up

And two players sent off including Aaron Jones.

So Joe documented his journey in some detail to the discount hotel...and that's where the trail ended :thanks:

I'm a bit surprised that he wasn't booked into a local B&B

Well it's all a bit strange. Not sure whether others agree, but from my perspective one of the reasons the town doesn't buy into the club in a big way is the lack of clarity/transparency. What are the current aims of the club....what are its financial capabilities? Is there any point at all in finishing in a play off position. The gap which exists to the National League means promotion would probably require a whole new squad...can the club afford it ?. It's difficult to get too enthusiastic when there is no obvious plan or end result in mind.

Hey Joe, watcha doin' with that Club in your hand..................................

Clarity / transparency?! Supporters = customers = mushrooms

What surprised me is that someone who is so important to the future of The Linnets, had to travel 17 hours by plane and then had to get a Train from London to Lynn!

Why wasn't he picked up from London by a Club representative?

Doesn't the Club have a car or any personnel available these days?

:dontknow:

Or at the very least a motorbike and sidecar?

The difference between the teams is they had two chances and they scored we had at least 8 and failed to score and all this in front of Joe who was present tonight I wonder what he thought of it all I know what i thought we need a new Striker to replace Gold

Was Joe formally introduced to the crowd? Surely the least he deserved for his unstinting financial support in a less than obvious gold standard investment?
