Looking at how many goals Fletcher Toll has notched at Corby this season maybe we should have tried harder to get him onboard, and not let Setch nip in and get him.
Toll refused a contract at Corby

A sensible young man and well done to Setch for spotting his potential !!

Never a dull moment at Kings Lynn FC....Lakeland mentioning some off field issues that they have had to get their heads around.......
.
Seems strange to bring it to supporters attention, but then appears unwilling to share with them what was tough about his week.   :dontknow:

Intriguing? I wonder, could it be a Joe issue? Perhaps at long last he will put his head above the parapet?

Did Defty score over 20 goals in a season at step2 Rod ? I honestly can't remember.....more of a Ready, Coupe Trigger front line fan, myself.

Pink, i don't have the relevant stats but he certainly played at this level. Jack had a great all round game and almost certainly could have played at least a couple of levels higher had he not lacked pace. But as always it is about opinions!

Academies and “local lads” don’t work at this level because if they are good enough they will be picked off by bigger clubs, which most are, at the level we’re trying to achieve.  That system would only work if the crowd are happy to simply be better than Wisbech!

Local lads can work at this level. Jack Defty in his prime could definitely have played regularly. For those of a certain vintage i ask the question: who would you rather have leading the attack, Gold or Big Jack?!

My first visit this season and my last. It was schoolboy football. Are they really full time and if they are what is the manager doing with them?
We have a great lump of a "centre forward" that is unable to get off the ground and gets pushed off the ball all the time, did we get him at a discount?.
This was rubbish, a relegation looking side.
I paid £19 for a seat it was not merchantable quality and I want my money back!!!

Peter join the 'club'. It seems that as a customer rather than a supporter you have experienced the standard match day experience.

It sounds like you think it's Waitrose prices with Aldi quality?

Harrods prices!

One key thing that I feel has been missed under the current Chairman's reign is the importance of a few local lads in the squad, that the Lynn faithful can relate to as one of their own.......looking back at times when there was a greater sense of community within the club, there was always at least one or two....Richard Johnston,Keith Rudd,Freddie Easthall, Mark Howard,Kevin Ready,Clive Adams, Neil Fryatt etc etc. Developing some local players through the academy and getting them playing in the eleven not only builds the link to the town, it also puts a few hundred on the gate. It's why it such a shame when local talent is missed or not nurtured and the likes of Sports or Corby or much bigger fish (Aldershot, Luton etc ) benefit.

Pink, music to my ears!

In my opinion our chairman / owner has no real affinity with the town or club. His strategy is less about building an entity that connects with the local community but much more about pursuing a personal vanity project: as the owner of course he is perfectly entitled to do that.
Don't overlook the fact that in reality we were a consolation prize, with Wrexham initially being his preferred option. How they must now be regretting rejecting his overtures?!
I would love to go back to the days when local boys with ability gravitated to and were welcomed by their home down club, usually graduating from the 'A' team through the reserves and some, in addition to those you mention, like the Defty brothers and going much further back Mick Rains and Simon Bush, graduating to the first team. When they kissed the badge, they meant it !! Nowadays we recruit amongst others a player who failed last season at two National League clubs, so was pleased to 'come home'. I don't blame him but i would suspect the main attraction was retaining his full time status? Which surely calls into question the overall value of full time at this level when the majority of the competition are part time? An unproven theory but i believe that at our current level you are more likey to get players who are not wholly financially dependent on football to be more committed and perhaps play as much for the love of the game as the money?

For me supporting the club in those bygone days meant so much more. Maybe it is a generational thing and i acknowledge that it is impractical to have a predominantly local squad at this level but we now seem to discourage rather than encourage local talent unless they come through the academy.

Personally, i wish that i could turn the Linnet clock back!

Unlikely Rod He just signed Jordan Yong

I still think he may end up in Setch's capable hands.   :dontknow:

I'm hoping so. At Corby he will be appreciated and given the opportunity to play.

Apparently, there’s lots of money to be made from Academies.

This must be the primary motivator??? I can recall a time when we had a reserve team, most of which was made up of local lads who had started playing in local leagues, several of whom made it through to the first team. That route was seemingly far more productive in bringing players through than the current academy set up. Setch at Corby is to a degree now fulfilling that role, so i wonder if this is where Ben might be headed?

Aside from his managerial abilities, Adam's commitment and stamina are beyond question, as according to Mr Cleeve he is up at 4.00 am most mornings to drive down to Ely.

:oldman" :farmer: in reality we need to win these home games, top teams win at home at a canter and pick up points on the road at regular intervals. We seem capable of picking up those points on our travels so far, the return for away games, I would say has been acceptable, even though we really have not faced up against any top teams except one possibly. If indeed we are serious about trying for promotion via play offs or indeed winning this league home wins are vital for more than one reason, obviously points needed top maintain a challenge, we all know Lynn fans are fickle and 11=1300 is a really good turnout for a home match, I know people will argue we can pull in more fans and yes we can occasionally but a genuine core is the stated figure in my opinion. We need this number week in week out and two home defeats and some fans will start looking at costs and value for money and start looking whether we can really get in to a promotion challenging position. AL has had good backing from the football club since he has been here and he now has HIS squad of players, not ones he inherited and we really need to be seeing home wins to keep the fickle fans entering through those turnstiles and two defeats on the trot at home does not help. Full time professional team, we need to address these concerns and start picking up those home wins as soon as possible. Early doors as yet I know but points on the board are always welcome. :farmer: :oldman"

"We all know Lynn fans are fickle?" Really? Are we / they more fickle than the majority of football fans? If so why? Maybe the grossly inflated pay on the day admission price is a factor - particularly the concession price. If that is the case i am now one of the ' fickle', as i refuse to support this  vanity project that treats supporters (customers) as a necessary evil. More a case of can pay but won't pay!

From the EDP article:

"...............all this effort culminates in a 90-minute game................"

Exactly why Supporters should not be treated like customers! The precious 90 minutes, whereas its obviously the most important of the week, is generally the only time the Club engages with the supporters.

Although the Media coverage is far better than it ever has been under the current regime, its only one small part of it. It can't just stop there.

Supporter involvement has been poor since Club was reformed. Even the previous Club, with all the errors they made, appear to have had more idea than the past and present Chairman on this matter.

The best its ever been was when there was a Management Committee for the supporters which was allowed to get involved with the Club. Totally independent officials and not have them appointed by the Club (or by other Officials that had been appointed by the Club). The work and effort that the likes of Chilly and all the others used to put in was incredible, and the Club benefited both financially and socially. The funds raised meant they were in a position to fully pay a players wages if they had wanted to (maybe more than one)!!! That's a lot of money and would be a great help to any Club! All this has now gone.....................why? An income stream lost and not replaced. I can't understand the logic in that one.

The important thing to remember is that the 90 minutes mentioned, is how the majority supporters see the Club. That's really all the engagement they get. Call them Fickle or 90 minutes Supporters or both. How a Club can move forward with this model, I don't really know. Surely its obvious that supporters need to be involved more than just 90 minutes a week?

As an example, People continually mention Darlington. Should we believe that all their supporters do, (apart from raising 100's of thousands of pounds) is watch 90 minutes of football each week?

I think not.

Game, set and match!!!

Just one element of the great British rip off. Such a shame that our esteemed owner is not running a German non league club!
