I cannot recall a time when we had so many local youngsters in and around the first team and i go back to the mid 50's and I don't think my memory is failing me.

Long may it continue!!

Who exactly is questioning Buster? I think that this thread in the main is quite constructive and relating only to his degree of influence within the decision making process?

I now regularly visit both forums but this one is 'home' as far as I am concerned!

A great win and I thought that all of the youngsters aquitted themselves well, especially the back four where Ryan proved both his quality and leadership qualities - had either been in doubt? Also how fantastic to see so much genuine PASSION on the pitch from local players who actually care - because they are local!

I have been a critic, without naming names, of the lack of influence to date this season of the 'senior players' so delighted not only that Stevo' scored a couple but for me most importantly he was a catalyst for the younger players, and how they responded, 'leading from the front' - something that was much needed.

My one reservation on the night though, lest we get carried away, was our continuing profligacy in front of goal. We cannot continue to be so wasteful - if we do more often than not, unlike last night, we will be punished.

And surely, unless I am missing something obvious, though Setch' is running things day to day, Buster still very much holds the purse strings and is the ultimate decision maker??

I think we are essentially in agreement?! But when we have had pretty much a full squad this seasion I think that on occasion our more experienced players have not always lived up to their reputations and given the youngsters as much support and leadership as the could and should.

I would always advocate giving the youngsters a chance as against trying to bring someone in for just the short term but that does place a massive responsibility upon those with at least some experience to step up to the plate.

But even allowing for injuries we are inconsistent - as I posted recently, seemingly one step forward then one back?

Was it that bad little John? Were there any 'bright spots'?

But are we progressing as a team......Sometimes I think so but then I feel, one step forward then one back? I fully support the youth and local recruitment policy - something I have been advocating for a long time but as I have posted on several occasions, for this policy to be succesful in terms of first team performance you need your more experienced players to exert their influence consistently and particularly when the going gets tough. Leadership on the pitch!!??

I just wonder whether Setch' is having a meaningful and hopefully ongoing dialogue with the Trust?
