I wonder if the successful applicant will use 'that table' to sort all the sponsorship opportunities that come flooding in?

I thought that Dixon-Hodge was mightily impressive until he picked up that long term injury.

I wonder how deep Joe's pockets might be? Will summer signings be more akin to pot noodles or Fabergť eggs?

"Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard"

A message emblazoned on walls at Manchester City, but surely applies to all levels of football

The best and most successful teams are usually also the hardest working. Numero uno in my lifetime is probably the great Barcelona team of a young Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, Villa, Busquets, Puyol et al. They 'invented' closing down and winning the ball back high up in their opponents half. Yet it is a sobering thought, that at that time the first three i have named would probably have been rejected by most Premiership clubs due to.their lack of physical stature!

Adam Lakeland's approach to the job from the outset has been professional and reasonably consistent. He has achieved his only objective for this season: that of avoiding relegation. Tougher challenges lie ahead but given a reasonable budget he might well deliver a team capable of challenging at least for a play off place but alongside of that wouldn't it be wonderful if the off field operation and match day experience were improved: treating all customers - actual and potential, as highly valued supporters?

Just watched AL 15min interview after the Sports game.   Interesting insight into what the hopes are for next season.  Has a hit list drawn up for  who he wants in for next season.

Puts a bit more meat on the bone to the mess inherited when he entered the building earlier in the season.  Was very critical Of the standard recruitments last summer.  I guess the likes of Bartley, Clifford,Oke, Smith, Spence etc could fall into that category.    Who was actually behind last summerís new signings ?

To me the one glaring mistake in recruitment terms was Mark Hughes being appointment by Stephen Cleeve.  The rest followed behind that.

Well yes, BUT.....

If he didn't have the money for anything better at the time, what was he supposed to do?

No secret what Club finances were like when he decided to give the job to Hughes, and also in fairness to Hughes, that would also have hindered his recruitment.

Things then improved with finances and AL coming in.

A question is if Joe's money was just used to get us to the end of the season (I seem to remember the Chairman saying that 300k was needed to do that  :dontknow:), or if are there surplus funds for AL to use on his shopping list for next season.  :dontknow:

Perhaps the mysterious Joe has a magic money tree?

Joe must have very deep pockets and a philanthropic approach to business. How lucky are we!

As i have mentioned on a number of previous occasions, i fail to see any obvious benefits of being full time at this level. Am i missing something??

I am using primary source of income to differentiate between FT and. PT.: an over simplification perhaps and maybe some naivety on my part but as a general rule of thumb i believe if PT you are more likely to attract players who are fully committed: those who play for the love of the game rather than viewing it as their primary source of income?

If we canít beat a team who hasnít won in its last 10 games who can we beat, I think the team will need a major overhaul before next season .whats the use of having a top striker if we donít supply him with the crosses into the box ,I wish we had a couple of wingers to supply the crosses ,but they seem to be out of fashion which imo is a great same nothing like watching a winger taking on the full backs bring back the likes of Steve Spriggs flying down the wing

I agree.... Fond memories of such as Ronnie Bacon and, Dave Partridge .

Was it Joe who was summarising?

Dear all,

Leading up to the Euro tournament in June this year, I am conducting some research looking at fansí views towards the role of football in response to military conflict. For those interested in this topic, I have created a short survey that should not take up too much of your time:

Participation is completely voluntary, but I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on this topic.

Some interesting questions in this survey.

Sadly, I believe that many sports fans, not just football fans, don't care enough about such things as War and suffering of the World's population.

As long as money is pumped into their particular Sport or Club, at any level and irrespective of the source of such money, they are happy to go along with it.

Such is the craving for "success".

Success at almost any cost would seem to be the requirement for the majority at all levels, even if they are treated as customers rather than supporters, with the end seemingly justifying the means?

Our Lucky Joe must have left at half time.

Is Joe for real or just a figment of someone's vivid imagination?
