I suspect AL may have been informed that the club is a sleeping giant , when he took over. Possibly also, if you get success on the pitch, crowds will come..eg York, more than 4,000.

However, I believe there are some strong requirements attached for any of this to even be partly true. Obviously what follows is just my take on things:


Firstly apart from maybe the solid core of 700 or so, supporters or would be supporters want to know what they are actually supporting before they commit on a regular basis......what is the plan, what is the intention, will the club be solvent going forward, if it did get promoted, could it actually afford to go up and stay up. If none of this information is available, then what is there to buy into or support ?

Secondly, fans at Lynn are used, in recent times to the club being up there....2 years ago 2nd on 93 points, 2 previous years National League, previous year, won the NLN. To get the crowd building you need consistent home performances....entertaining attacking football and wins, coupled with some pricing offers. There have been a number of false starts this year....start of a decent run, so crowd turns up in decent numbers and then a really disappointing performance when they are there. Those extra few hundred that were there on Boxing Day were there for the experience and/or to give it a try again........they weren't excited by the performance and therefore weren't vocal and probably won't be there again until there has been another decent run......that's just the way it works.

If AL rather naively believed the club to be a 'sleeping giant' he obviously failed to undertake even rudimentary due diligence. Just a little research may well have called that belief into question? Perhaps though the remuneration and an opportunity to manage a full time team were the determining decision making motivators?

Indicative of a club that has no idea how to develop a rapport with its 'customers!'

Bal? Or is he the new investor - or both. Is Mr Cleeve still the sole owner and / or the primary decision maker. Who knows?? The smoke and mirrors become increasingly murky. Such a contrast with the playing side.

Fully agree with your comments regarding 'ground development ' but the club many years ago regularly competed at the highest level of non league and that with a part time team. Then though there was no autonomic right of promotion to what is now division two.

It's good news that certain sensible and logical initiatives are now being taken but i am still dismayed by the seeming smoke and mirrors policy towards those who both support and have a life long interest in the club. It is not necessarily about intricate detail but i would genuinely love to know the extent of Joe's involvement and whether we have another investor on-board. In similar vein, who is running the commercial side, is there going to be a supporters club etc etc Is that all too much to ask? It would appear so.

I was there Saturday and I know what 300 and 450 looks like at the Walks (I was there during the Setch days in the Southern League when crowds got bad) and there was definitely more than 300 and 450. I was guessing around the 650-700 figure. 811 is still an absolutely shocking number for this club. I overheard someone say "This town doesn't deserve a football club". I can certainly sympathise with that statement

Anyway, let's all back the boys on Saturday 

Maybe there are reasons other than apathy for attendances not being what the could and perhaps should be ?
