That last line worries me.

I genuinely hope I'm proved wrong, but having the intention of playing league football is not the way to run a non league football club.

Having the intention of building a  club that attracts enough fans to support a team capable of competing at the highest level that club can reasonably afford, would be a more achievable long term goal.

Sounds like promotion at any cost.

Where does that leave us when it all goes belly up,  again?

I wouldn’t lose too much sleep over the thought of league football!!!!!!!!!!!…..it’s about as likely to EVER happen as the WHO announcing that the Covid pandemic is over, tomorrow! This season has proven that the club could never sustain such status, as the fans clearly won’t come unless the side are winning….and at this level, that needs 10 times more money than what the current owner can provide (rightly or wrongly) and I can’t see anyone ever being prepared to take that sort of financial risk.

Sell? Some of the players we will never give away.

I know!!…..hence why I can only envisage a “Big Bang” before long :(

A lot of players in this seasons squad will be in contract through the summer and into next season.    That has to be the starting point for next season.   If  a new Manager comes in Will he have a free reign to put his squad together or will SC be ‘helping’ in that area ?

And what’s more “a lot of players in this season squad” will also still be on FULL TIME wages next season at level two and if that’s not sustainable at the moment in the NL then what chance do Lynn have of surviving as a full time club at a lower level? Go back to “part time” people will say, but forgetting those players will still be under full time contracts so unless they can be sold, then there’s a big problem.
It’s all going to go “bang” in a big way, I fear 😧

Another week goes by without any sign of a forward, so alas another null points on the cards for Saturday and then gap to safety will widen still further...... don't think I can bear to see it all unfold yet again......so will ignore the game and just confirm the outcome on Sunday...as you say Dilly, pretty difficult to take....this slow painful demise of our club.
Depressing.  There is no such thing as a “Holding” midfielder, and even some pundits are beginning to catch up with that.  We still have no creative midfielders, nor goal scoring forwards.  We’ll soon have the most number of iun-creative midfielders in pro-football, and they’ll all be looking to “work hard, and break things up” !  Sorry - not being controversial, just putting forward an opinion…..

Both sad but true posts!......the gap is going to be too big by Xmas for any "strikers" that MAY then come in. We can keep finding "injury ridden" midfielders so it seems, but to get strikers is a lot harder and costs decent MONEY...and I'm not sure that that idea is one some people at the club are too happy about!

This is good news for the club .......

Why's that?  :dontknow:

Because I don’t believe this will actually turn out to be just “a brief break” and if they do a proper job in replacing him and bring in a more experienced, at this full time level, DOF, then surely it will be someone with more contacts and experience at this level. Back has done so well for us but may well now be out of his comfort and dare I also say, ability zone, at this level (just my personal opinion and I could well be wrong, before the abuse starts!!).
BUT and as I said before, this is only good IF the club actually does the above!!

Whether or not the players currently at the club are suited to a change of tactics, SOMETHING had to be changed, as there is only one ending to the story if they just carry on with the same plan, week after week.

This is good news for the club but of course it depends on who his replacement is!!

Thank you for the post.  We moved to the area several months ago and my children play in the Kings Lynn junior teams and we've been to all but 1 home game.  Your post gives me a lot of background as to the state of the play.  As a complete new comer who doesn't know the Chairman or manager I'm not as emotionally involved as others but my take is this: the football philosophy of the manager (and maybe its that of the Chairman too) cannot be executed with the current players in the squad.  It would be like Pep Guardiola trying to implement his style on Burnley.  Your style of play needs to be built of the players you have.   If he wants to constantly play from the back he needs a new squad, if a new squad cannot be bought in he needs to change his style.  The team is trying to play like Man City whilst getting battered in the National League whilst in a relegation spot. It doesn't make sense.  We just can't keep putting the players under pressure at the back.  I think the team is good enough to beat relegation if tactics are adjusted to play to their strengths.  Obviously a new striker is needed  but outside of that the team can compete.  Morias wasn't anywhere near good enough so selling him isn't an excuse at all.   I guess my view is change the style of play or change the manager if we are sticking with this group of players.  Whatever happens my boys love coming to the games and we will continue to be there to support.

Good and sensible post young man and welcome to the Walks to you and your family.

The problem with football, as a supporter, is we all get involved emotionally.

Take the emotion away and deal with facts.

Culverhouse as a manager warrants more time - assuming he wants to stay

I have previously questioned the credentials of IC's team - Bastock seems a bit of a character, but how good is he, really??

Also Backie - now I know Backie is held in high esteem amongst fans and I'm sure there are probably people on here who know him personally, but.......how qualified / good is he to be a Director Of Football??
Who would be his contacts within the game??
How respected within the world of football is he??

To me, it's the players who aren't quite up to it and possibly the backroom staff - it isn't Ian Culverhouse.

I know IC should be judged over the course of a season, but there is no way he can be blamed for the daft decisions on the pitch and the mistakes on the pitch today

Good post. I.m.o. a lot of the players are not good enough, whether that’s down to IC’s mistakes in wanting them or they are the best we could get with the money available?. And as far as your comments about the credentials and quality of his back up team…then I think that’s a very relevant question to be asking!!….as likeable and “local” as they are, questions really have to be asked whether they have the experience or contacts at this level of PROFESSIONAL football to be up to the job.
I.m.o. the only chance for Lynn to survive both on and off the pitch this season is to bring in at least three better players and for IC to have some stronger back up, off the pitch. Now, both those things will involve more money and also whether IC would be happy to carry on if his assistants were replaced, are both HUGE “IF’S” but without those things happening it’s as sure as next month is December that Lynn will get relegated and almost as sure too  that there will be a nasty “explosion” come the end of the season too, OFF the pitch :(
Sad times when really it should have been great times with the club at the highest level it’s ever been, but it really looks like it’s one level too high for any kind of sustainability.

Do you think the Chairman would still have the fight in him to carry on having had to admit his dream of EFL is over and he failed at NL level.

He has pumped in circa £500k to reach this far plus loaded the Club up with a debt of the same amount.   The fans aren’t backing him and an average season NLN will see no increase ( maybe the opposite).  So will he prepared to prop the club up for the foreseeable future ?

I certainly dont and the likelihood of anyone wanting to take on a NLN club next season, with several players on the second year of a professional full time contract and with debts as horrendous as they are reported to be, is pretty poor I'd have thought.....Which sadly only really leaves one alternative at the end of this season!!......BANG!!

It's all painfully slow this. Everyone can see where this is heading......SC says he will fix it, but at this level things need to be move a lot faster...too much for one person with a lack of NL experience to cover...... Everyone at the club has been learning on the job and trying to get toNL level for some time now.....IMHO, the club desperately needs a few NLsavvy people in its ranks in order to have any hope of survival.

Sadly Kes, I can't see any hope of survival, on or off the pitch :( It's an utter mess with the almost inevitable "big bang" ending approaching.

17k for a striker who wasn’t hitting a cows ass with the side of a banjo isn’t bad business by the Chairman.  Hopefully that money will be passed over to IC to spend.    Then going forward let’s hope Dagenham gain promotion.

Absolutely!!...Brilliant deal for the club, I would have thought we'd have struggled to give him away based on how utterly useless he has been! Mind you, if we've sold him for that amount bearing in mind the above, then it does make you worry about how much we bought him for!!

A "five figure fee"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....assume that must mean something along the likes of £699.99 as to get anymore for him would have been a great bit of business by the club!
No loss whatsoever, just hope his replacement is brought in soon but whoever it is, they can't be any worse than he was!

Very sadly this season is going EXACTLY like I predicted it would, when so many, both at the club and amongst the fans, were hoping for and expecting a mid table finish, at the worst! Sound like a stuck record but like I said weeks ago now, we aint going to win enough matches to stay up with the very poor, freebie, non league journeymen we have as our uhum, "strike force"!!

As others have said, its NOW time to **** or get off the pot for SC and arguably IC too. The club has got to spend some money on a striker, even if that means PAYING a league club the full wages for just a loan of a good striker (who isnt quite good enough for them right now but whom they don't want to leave).

I know that's far easier said than done BUT unless it happens, then Lynn WILL get relegated and where will that leave those contracted "full time players" next season or indeed the future of the club?!
