General Discussion / Re: Lynn Boss looking for magic.

"On paper a decent enough result for Lynn's young side"!!

At home, in the potentially money spinning (see last season for details!!) FA Cup, against a lower league side....and that's a "decent enough result"!!....have a little ambition at least man!!

My apology, same level league as us, so your point is valid...sorry man!!

Not sure I would call this a "wake up call" to be honest, its more like what will be expected this season with the current squad and dare I say it, those in charge!

Good luck to the lads today, I think its going to be a tough season ahead with a few new players unproven at this level, but lets hope for a win, although for me, a promising performance is more important than the actual result today.

:Sherlock: mm pre season friendlies don’t mean a thing we can only make a guesstimate type judgement after 5 or 6 games. Let’s not be too pessimistic after all apart from the biggest club going for broke what have the rest done in this division.

No, "guesstimates" are EXACTLY what we can make NOW, based on the squad and what has happened so far!!
After 5 or 6 games we can then make more INFORMED predictions about the season ahead based on how they have gone.

At the moment NO-ONE can say with even an ounce of certainty, just how the season will go, but we can have our own opinions and guesses about it so there's no real need to use  :Sherlock: emoji's just because your opinion may be different to that persons post!

You went the other way Gordon. So it’s not a one way Street.

Taken this from the Chairman’s tweet.

Tapping up of players still a huge problem in the
@TheVanaramaNL
  - it needs to stop but there seems to be an old boys network protecting the bigger clubs - this whole area needs proper reform - have sent cast iron proof of a club in the NL doing just this but yet nothing ???

I could have an educated guess at the player in question.  No prizes for guessing the Club  :laughcry:

Yep, rumour is that the Chairman's old mate Tommy is doing everything he can do to encourage Barrett away.

Of course, all just a rumour that's come about due to a post on Twitter.

 :scarf:

..and you don’t think that this is going to happen?!! Come on, wake up!!

SC is spot on with his comments about Judas Widdrington and Aldershot, even at our level the “big clubs” act as bully’s and there is nothing that is or can be done about it.

Good riddance to him. Will be out of his depth again but Daddy will hold his hand and keep picking him, no doubt!!

Tyler will be missed, is the start of a “talent drain” or was his loss expected?

I fear its very much the former and that at LEAST 4 or 5 of our best players will move onwards and upwards over the Summer :(
We'd better hope that Hughes has a lot of "good contacts" in the game to be able to replace them!

Staggered to be honest......not for me., the body language on Sunday spoke volumes for me🤔 having said that I wish everyone at klfc the very best 👏🏼👏🏼

Have to agree with that!.....think its the cheap and convenient option and the last game showed that when the going gets tough, he appeared to struggle for ideas. Lets hope he proves me wrong.

Sadly, as I said during the week, no surprise at todays result. History suggested it and unfortunately history was correct with both 2nd and 3rd placed teams in the league losing out to teams who just scraped into the play offs!!,
Can’t complain though about the best team ON THE DAY not winning because Lynn were dire and Kiddy deserved the win today.

A MASSIVE 24 points less than Lynn, scraped into the play offs on the final day of the season, six wins out of the last six matches and with the tradition of the best team over the season rarely succeeding in the play offs, then I fear Sunday is only ending one way :(

Disappointing from Lynn.  3 top performers for us Jones (A), Crowther and Clunan.  3 who
were poor Jones ( J), Widdrington and Barrett.  The amazing thing is two of that 3 played the full 90 minutes.

Thought Stephen Cleeve looked a beaten man in the Directors box by the end of the game.

To be honest, Jones (J) has been gash (he was a good one!!) most of the games he’s played for us so far and Widdrington is very much in the same boat (certainly since he came back from his injury last year) but we all know that he will be given far more chances than any other player!!
As for the argument between TW and some fans this evening, I think it may well have been related to this aforementioned player and certain comments about performances!

General Discussion / Re: How does Tommy put it right ?
« on: February 20, 2023, 10:51:52 PM »
Two weeks ago those of us who could see the way things were going and were worried about performances/results etc were being told by people in here to “to give our heads a wobble”!! Now there are topics and comments like this one, from people who are now waking up to reality!!
We WILL be in the play offs and it WILL still have been a good season but being realistic we have very little chance of winning the league I’m afraid, we are just not good enough and our squad is not big enough, QUALITY wise.
The sooner that sinks in to some (most) in here the better, to avoid the need for more new topics like this one over the next few weeks!!
Hopefully we can still finish in the top three to make winning the play offs easier BUT I don’t think we will even do that I’m afraid.
(Puts my tin hat on now but deep down and realistically, you know I’m right, sadly!)

General Discussion / Re: Spennymoor away
« on: February 11, 2023, 09:56:20 PM »
Come on guys, give ya heads a wobble.    We are top of the League.  What could be better than that in February.    All teams hit a ‘sticky’ patch (if that’s what you could describe this as).  Ok lower teams have been a little bit of an Achilles heel,  but I’m sure it’s something Tommy is well aware of and I’m sure will get into the players when then next game against teams lower in the table.   Though it wasn’t the case v Boston, in either game.

As for the size of the squad.  Missing last night were

Keller,
Fleming
Hargreaves ( massive miss)
Stephens
Gold
Scott

Makes a squad of 22 plus the younger lads on contract.

A win on Saturday followed by 3 points at home to Telford on Tuesday might make people look more positive on the situation

Still need to “give our heads a wobble” do we? How many more games and poor results does it have to be before we are allowed start getting concerned about the sharp decline in the form last two or three weeks?!!!
Smell the coffee time I’m afraid. A play off position (which we should get unless we implode completely)is still a great season and one we should be proud of, BUT we are not going to win the league unless better players are brought in or we suffer NO a more injuries or suspensions for the rest of the season!!

Sadly this fall from form and increasing poor away results has been coming for a while now. We will comfortably be in the play offs (hopefully 2nd or 3rd) but winning the league is starting to slip away unless two more quality players are added to the squad in the next week or so (before the Fylde match).
It’s all very well having games in hand but look at the “Covid season” when we were only saved when the season was abandoned early as we were losing or drawing game after game of our “games in hand” over York.
Still got to be very happy with the season so far but fear it’s starting to drift away a little now.
Not too late to save it but with the squad as it is now, it’s not big or good enough to cope with the injuries (and suspensions!) we are having/going to have.
Finally, well done to the 24 Lynn fans who travelled all that way for a midweek game, they deserve full respect.
