It was obvious Barrett was a higher standard than the rest of the team, and no surprise at all that he has done well in the NL. It was poor judgement that kept on the bench so often. I believe Crane has had the same treatment. When we badly need a goal it seems crazy to me to take one forward off and put another on. It might help to have two on, especially if we’re dominating the game. I don’t think I’ve seen a Lynn team so short of creative players, and hope we change it dramatically next season…

Disappointed but not surprised that he left Crane on the bench. He has ability, and it was a game we had to win, not lose close! I believe Al’s football mindset cost us too many points, particularly against teams in the relegation zone. Ah well, here’s to next season in the league that currently suits us best. I don’t much care who the manager is as long as he can spot a good player and attract him to the club, (and pick him!). Life goes on!

Thank you, Pink! We obviously have similar senses of humour, and tastes in football! Again, COYL!!….

It wasn’t Northern grit that beat us today. It was proper football by a team with all the players while we had none. Chester were excellent. They played nippy skilful football throughout. The first half looked like Barcelona versus Scunthorpe Muckworks. Haven’t been for a long while, but I thought Crane looked a player, but virtually no one else. Crowe and Sass can have another go, but we need a large influx of players, found by a manager who knows that skill and slickness will beat kick and head volleyball every day of the week! Good luck vs Chorley, but we’ll have park the bus and sneak a couple of hooligans on as well and hope for a breakaway and a 90 degree deflection off of a defenders backside for a winner…. But COYL!!!

There is a lot of cynicism about SC at the moment. some of it possibly justified from people who know more than the Dillathon computer. But, in general, I beg to differ. I think SC has shown more ambition and emptied deeper pockets than almost all previous occupants of the hot seat. One post criticised him throughout, until the last sentence said “I appreciate what he’s done”, which struck me as inconsistent. The Dillathon ‘puter congratulates Al on picking Crane and Hamami in the same team from the start, even though it took him until 3 games from the end to keep our team up their end (pardon the expression) more often than usual. The computer sees the goal difference of 9 as showing a different mindset and selection to the other play-off contenders. Like most on here, I hope we win through the play-offs and get a rather unexpected promotion. Then we’ll need a much more professional set-up, particularly financial. Happy Easter to all….

Good result. Hopefully a lesson for Al that an attacking line-up is the best form of defence!…

Obviously I’m fully respectful that everyone on this forum has the health and prospects of the club at heart, but I’m a little concerned to see the occasional suggestion of local players as a possible cure for our current problems. I genuinely believe that that would be a recipe for a return to the United Counties League! How many people are involved in the running of the club? And by “Club”, I mean all aspects, bar, ground, etc., even changing the “Next match” board on the fence? Is anyone computer literate? (Not sarcasm, there, I mean can do more than “surf”? - which doesn’t include me! There are decent financial opportunities online for those who can…

I’m here to represent the most annoying supporters - the ones who don’t go as we are awaiting warmer climes and a better team. My beef is with the manager; in a game we should certainly have looked to win to maintain any chance of a play-off place, Al, like so many managers at all levels, leaves the fastest and trickiest player, Crane, on the bench, presumably preferring some kind of Subbuteo formation to picking the players most likely to actually create chances. I fear we have found our level. The support, the stadium, the team, and the financial side simply don’t look like an enterprise likely to go any higher. I wish us all well, but reality is possibly beginning to surface…

Skilful players like Barrett are always accused of not being consistent, or not “putting in a shift”. I only watch Bundesliga, La Liga, or Champions League now to avoid players “winning fouls” or “tactical fouls” in the macho game full of players “putting in a shift” that has developed over here…

Abi It’s is the first quality to look for. And it only takes 5 minutes and 2 touches to spot it….

Agreed WellWisher. I’ve spent the season shouting “CRANE” because speed and trickery are the best ammunition for any team. But I spent a season shouting “BARRETT” and got nowhere as well! Managers are too full of faux-tactics to see the nose on the front of their faces!

Mall- the “Get nothing for playing well” is a football cliche! In general, playing well wins games, and not playing well doesn’t. If we can get a team that plays well we will win more matches!… Shearer and co can have the cliches, The Dillathon knows better!….

Al’s analysis didn’t quite make sense. He recognised that P’bro’ had two forwards who were “mobile and quick”, then said the opponents played the game at a slower pace than we would want. Good job they did! He should pick a team that is as quick and mobile as possible himself because it beats a stodgy defensive team 9 games out of 10…

Good one, B & G… Fair dos! A bit like Bob Newhart’s sketch “The Driving Instructor”……. “No, I’m sorry, it’s my fault. You put your left arm out, and your left indicator on, and I, well er, I more or less assumed you were going left”!….
