What is an Operations Director?

A week ago the team were praised for the muck and bullets tactic of defending our box for the whole second half.  If we used the same tactic last night, …STOP IT!!!  It means a defeat 9 games out of 10!  Only football wins football matches, again 9 games out of 10!

Great result.  Late post as have been away.  Let’s hope they build on that and climb further into the safety zone.  The idea of ceding possession and defending the box for an entire half, however, was deliberate, or likely to win very often!  But, again, we’ll done, and fingers crossed…

The Dillathon Computer likes the description of the new bloke.  Sounds like the qualities a midfielder should have.  He sounds like the midfielder that we have lacked since Carey and Kelly, although Kelly was too subtle for what is sometimes appreciated…. Recent results suggest that the players should be thinking “We can do this”, so perhaps they can……. COYL……!!…..

It IS a simple game.  You only have to listen to our pundits and their computer to know that most players don’t understand a word of it.  Then listen to Pep and others answering interview questions with a smirk and a two or three word answer - Clough-style!

With 5 at the back plus a keeper, we had little chance of creating chances.  And I never understand taking off one striker and replacing with another because logically it doesn’t improve the chances of getting a needed goal.  Should have another on, and lose a defender. He’s worrying me - the manager - looks like the last one’s safety first that rarely proves to be safe!

Very bad news about JB.  He’s clearly the most talented player in our present squad, and we will be short on creation without him for a few weeks.  I agree with TonyM that 5 at the back is very restricting of our ability to pressurise the opponents, but all our recent managers keep using it.  If we escape the bottom four we will need to have a more attacking line-up to climb higher…. For today, 3-5-2, including Fatadjo….

Must be a chance for a win.  BS on an unimpressive run, so fingers crossed.  Many of the posts show the team aren’t impressing, but squeezing out results, thankfully.  I don’t like the idea that the style doesn’t matter if a team wins, because it’s obvious that if a team plays well it will be likely to win, while a team playing badly is likely to lose.  Let’s hope KLTFC start playing well!  The Dillathon World-beating computer has calculated a result of 1-1, or a slightly fortunate 2-1 home win, if we are lucky!……

If we play Fatadjo, Stevens, Ponticelli up front, with Barrett, Hargreaves, and one other attacking midfielder (I don’t know the newbies), then defend in numbers when necessary, we’ll score goals AND keep the opposition down to a minimum of chances.  Honest!!!

One of England’s greatest.  Like all of the country’s attackers of his era, today would have been more difficult for him, because some managers and pundits would nowadays expect someone to end his forward movement by “taking one for the team”, sadly….

Yes, pace is important, particularly over short distances, and that is true in all positions. Bit disappointed, though not surprised, that we have yet another defender, but at least it sounds like this one is quick, up and down….. IF the team grab a win tomorrow it would indeed be a season starter…… For the future, we won’t keep players like JB if the team are “up and under hoof merchants” aiming at a big CF, like in the 50s!

Agree with Foster’s requirements in general.  And good to hear praise for Barrett, easily our best player, except what’s the difference between a midfield attacker and an attacking midfielder?!  They all move all over the place, or should do!

Changes?…….  Pick more attacking midfielders and attackers than defenders and centre-halves, then attack with 6 and defend with 9.  Spending more time around their penalty area than they do around ours which will give us more chance of winning than losing.

I wish the new lad good luck, and the manager with his signing.  However, with “energy, desire, and a consistent work ethic”, the Dillathon Computer is keen to know whether he can play football as well……
