General Discussion / Membership on the KLTFC site
« on: January 06, 2020, 06:25:15 PM »
Just had a look at the Membership benefits on the Club site - Could the inclusion of “non-club” benefits be advantageous ?  Perhaps tickets to a game at a higher level ?  Or vouchers for a money-off or half price to a local hostelry for a meal ?  Cinema tickets ?  Concert tickets ?  Just a thought.  Can’t help thinking out of the box cos I don’t have a box !.......

Yes Mallard, Carey’s did look unbelievable.  He was just unlucky, really.  IF we have to change the team, and we all hope we don’t, I could see Carey moving forward into that slot and doing pretty well....Just a thought....

Apart from periods of injury, wHen all squad are fit, I don’t believe we need any more players.  We have 4 Centre-halves when all available, plus two very capable of playing there (Jones and Barrows).  In midfield we have 8 to chose from, all well worth a place. Hawks, Limb and Stewart add to the list.  Maybe a GK, and two new forwards should we become disappointed with the effect of market forces !  Of course, the keeping them all fit is the key...

Another excellent performance.  Our front eleven are currently proving to be too good for everyone.  BUT - Any news on Adam Marriott ?  A very important question, I’m sure we would all agree.....

Boston’s website is awash with ideas and schemes, not just the advertising boards.  Things like competitions that our club has only ever promoted in a small way.  However, I agree that our continued progress must attract would be sponsors who would be impressed with the potential customers coming into the ground.  Now we need the numbers to rapidly increase.  Good luck to MH, and continued thanks to SC,IC, and the team for this superb season.....

Yes - great result.  Good result at Brackley as well, from our point of view.  Our home crowd really ought to start to snowball from now.......Potentially a very exciting last third of the season...  Anyone know why Kelly off so early ?  No mention on the commentary that I could see ( an otherwise good coverage).

General Discussion / HAPPY NEW YEAR
« on: December 31, 2019, 07:19:32 PM »
Happy New Year to all those interested in KLTFC, including those still only thinking about coming to see this excellent team in action....  Special thanks to Steven Cleeve, IC and Mr Bastock, (it hasn’t gone un-noticed how you “ping” a new ball into play when one is heading down Tennyson Avenue after a Hawk-launch !  Hard and low please Hawk, in 2020 !  Not forgetting our fine team , and particularly it’s terrific on the floor pass and move football !  As well as NY greetings, a special thank you to Mr Chairman for his superb sponsorship of our club, ambition for its progress, and....  his humorous programme notes.  Steven - Don’t let the buggers get you down.....  Off now for a third Crafty Hen - the last one before the toast !!!

For older hipsters, it’s right next door to the famous Gliderdrome Dancehall and concert venue.  A few memories for Lynn AND Boston revellers of yesteryear !

Yes, Brackley are becoming a real concern.  Looking back, perhaps our team’s result there in early season is one of our season’s best....Often think managers and pundits exaggerate the complexity of the game, and their “knowledge”, (Mourinho getting rid of Salah and De Bruyne !), but the managers of Brackley and KLT obviously know what they’re doing !

I expect most of the bigger clubs to be disappointed with their allotted space and lack of cover, and ai feel few of the refs deserve the criticism they receive at ALL grounds !  But there we are we’re all on the same side when it comes to KLTC results and hopes !  Great bench today, as always, so changes during the game won’t make it any easier for Alfreton !

Decent selection with aHawkins making a fourth attacking midfielder instead playing a 3rd Centre half.  Kelly having a rest ?  A team that can go for it.

IC’s comment that “We may lose games through trying to win them” sums up for me why we invariably win.  Trying to defend your way to a win may work in odd or one-off games, but never on a regular basis.  It’s good we aren’t hearing much about “holding players” and “systems” because picking sides to keep the opponents on the back foot will bring the bacon most of the time, IMHO (!)........

Good points from KES and TonyM.  Easy access to loos is obviously essential for away fans, and proper segregation of fans equally important.  If any of our fans haven’t been to Boston’s ground before, I believe they will be impressed.  Their development since the days when the clubs were genuine rivals has been excellent, and set something of the standard we need to reach if we wish to continue this season’s excellent progress on the field.  Many Boston fans must be gutted to be losing such a non-league gem to market forces.

I agree, Dazza, that a roof over the Tennyson End would be good, but also think that steeper terraces would help to attract more customers.  If we make it to the National, which I certainly hope we do. all away supporters would expect a steeper terrace under that roof, as they are well used to that better view at all other clubs in that league.  Boston were less than complimentary about the view, to start with.......
