General Discussion / Re: Boston (New Years Day)
« on: December 27, 2019, 02:39:17 PM »
The real big thing is that KL Town FC and supporters are not remotely to blame for any problems at the game.  Not only our reputation, but also our points tally and financial stability are at stake, as in every game.  Not being holier than thou, but , for any club, the bigger the fan contingent, sometimes the more difficult the peace to keep.....    On the game, Iím hoping IC defends by selecting a four-man all-attacking midfield to give them less attack time.  I felt the Boxing Day line-up was too cautious, and as usual would hope for Kelly and Carey to be in it !   Others will have other ideas, of course.

Weíll have to agree to differ on this, but I didnít say all those who wanted stricter immigration and security are racist.  Indeed I said the opposite, that not all Leave voters are racist, which agrees with your point.  The anti-Semite angle is more complicated.  All I want to ensure is that our crowd donít engage in racist comments, even non-racist but derogatory comments, aimed at opposing fans or players, firstly because I find it offensive, and also because it could easily land the club in trouble to spoil this excellent season.  Gary Neville May have been a failure at his first management position in Spain, but he is talking the most sense on this touchy subject, IMHO....

Bunting, Dunkley and Quigley ??!  A Xmas wind-up, if ever Iíve seen one !  Bunting reminded me of those fairground players attached to rods..... legs straight up like a Tiller Girl, then brought down again with a bit of skin and bone on the end !

Iím a little surprised that Mr Hill has never heard a racist comment at the Walks !  I never go to a game anywhere without hearing them all the time !

Are you really lost as to why immigration is linked to racism ?  Not saying it always is, but canít see why you would be ďat a loss ď ..?!?....  As regards the ďanti-semitismĒ issue - The problem with that is the anti-Israel versus anti- Jewishness argument, not about real racism at all, unless it comes from a racist stand-point.  There is no such differential in the case of real racism, which is surely about prejudice against colour, religion, nationality, etc...  Anyway, racism is a problem in society, not merely football. Let us pray, no less, that there is no crowd trouble tomorrow, for whatever reason......

All fingers and toes crossed for a KL victory, but I too canít make the game.  Iíll certainly be on the I-pad or radio during charades which wonít get too much of my attention.  I just hope IC picks an entirely attacking midfield, and defends by numbers, a ďforest of legsĒ.  Very difficult selection job from Kelly, Carey, Richards, Payne, Henderson - pity about Clunan.... Anyone heard the state of the pitch ? Hope itís in condition to enable the passing game that has been too good for nearly every opponent so far.....

Very surprised that ďweíve done Brexit nowĒ, shouted at a black player, can be questioned as to whether or not it is racist.  It canít be defined as anything else, even if it was said in ignorance or error.  As to whether Brexit was racist, I feel that not all Leave voters are racist, but all racists are Leave voters.  And, again only my honest opinion, I think virtually all of the brexit referendum campaign was about immigration and the feelings it induced one way or another.  I donít actually believe such calls from football terraces are always racist, hopefully including the call in question,  as they sometimes  emanate from a lack of understanding of the connection, albeit an astonishing lack, to be truthful.

Canít make the game, due to family commitments.  Gutted, of course !  I hope the pitch is up to our superb football, and Iím sure the groundsman will have had his work cut out.  I hope the team hit top form and grab all three points.  It will be tough, but we are good enough to do it.  Hoping Kelly fit and selected, but, my usual point, ANY selection is capable of a result in this league.

Unfortunately for our society, racism is political.  It has been a national societal problem for a very long time, and itís completely unfair to blame football.  It is a fact, however, that there are an unacceptable number of racists who cause problems within football.  The comment shouted from our terraces, or wherever, was an unfortunate but common example of an ignorance which abounds in our current society.

Nice dream from Linnet 64, but we need terraces behind the goals and a professional financial set-up before that dream can be genuinely contemplated.   Nothing wrong with dreaming at Xmas, however !

Yes, I agree with WLM - Aaron Jones looks an ideal replacement....

Great pity.  Iím attack minded, and MC does his bit there, but every team needs an ďall over the pitchĒ energy player, and he is so good as that man...  Speedy recovery to him.  We DO have the quality all over the squad to replace him, but nobody quite with his versatile style.  I hope we DONíT bring in a loan player because we have talented players deserving of games and certainly of the standard to dominate these games.

Tricky draw - any National League team away is bound to be .  BUT, a very decent chance of progress with this squad.  I would think Ebbsfleet would be more concerned than KL.  Good ground, been before, old -fashioned and sizeable stadium.

General Discussion / Re: Dover

Fingers crossed on the injuries/illnesses, but as long as all positions covered with fit men then whatever selection made or forced, we will continue to be a real handful for any forthcoming opponent.  On the attendance point re Dover, I was initially disappointed, but the Sunday paper showed that virtually all attendances in the FAT were lower than usual.  I donít think the early rounds of this competition interest the supporters too much, but that should change for later rounds.  Four important league games coming up, so, again, fingers crossed on fitness.  Well done Steve the groundsman again.
