I believe Southwell would thrive if he were in a team that keep the ball and move forward together.  I felt sorry for him when the ball was hoofed up high and over the heads of everyone.  DS needs through balls, not pumped balls.

At every “big” fixture over the years, there has always been the danger, and concern for sensible supporters, that a minority are likely to cause trouble in one way or another, therefore putting the club back another couple of rungs down the ladder we are trying to climb to reach the essential level of professionalism required.  In the league we are now in, and higher if we continue the improvement seen in the Stephen Cleeve years, every game is a “big” fixture, and will become even bigger as our competitiveness improves.  We have to ensure that idiotic behaviour and people are not tolerated, as failure to get to grips with it will certainly spoil the entertainment on offer, and the progress we are making.

Yes...  Congrats to Sutton United.  And also congrats to Hornchurch foe winning the FA Trophy !  They were better than us in that tie.

Very good news.  What’s the old phrase ?..... All donations gratefully received....  Thank you very much Mr or Mrs Donator, that’s a very kind deed.  On the use of it, taking account of the benefactor’s wishes, we should name the Stand.  I suggest it should be the Dilly Dilly Stand, but if that suggestion is not adopted, then I thoroughly agree that the Mick Wright Stand would be the best option.  If we can now acquire a genuinely competitive team for next season, we could be in for the best season in the club’s history... Let’s hope so....    Any news on Cameron King - a fit one would be Dilly’s first signing....

Another ground could be good.  I don’t go with the idea that we need an over5,000 crowd to justify improved and/or covered terraces.  Their provision might well attract players, too.  How do clubs like Eastleigh pay for their superb modern terrace additions . We have more potential to pull in 5,ooo crowds than most in this league, but the ground needs to be part of the snowball....

On Mallard’s Cup Final point, I shared his enjoyment, apart from the Neanderthals who booed the taking of the knee, and the commentator trying to talk louder to hide it.

I respect your opinion, KES, but I think Fox was good defensively !  I only recall one wide player getting the better of him all season in the NL, and that was the little Chester winger who managed to give him a torrid time.  Fox was also very good going forward, IMHO.  I hope you’re right that we can do better than Marriott, but think that would take some doing.  Let’s just hope IC has the contacts, and the money, to make us competitive next season.  If he can, it will really give us something to look forward to.

Good to see good sense about Covid on here, it’s not totally common, you know !  As for next season.  The Dillification is as follows....  Get back Street, or get a “ box- dominator” GK, get back Norman, Nathan Fox, FBT, and Marriott.  Keep the ante-Covid regulars, and (sacrilege coming up), advise Sonny Carey that although we understand his temptation, he may have a frustrating season at a league club, particularly the two clubs mentioned in the Championship, and is presently more suited to play in a new and strengthened KL team.  If he keeps his form, league clubs will come back. I think he’s a year too early to make that leap.  We do badly need another King, if the one we have can’t make it back to full fitness.  Over and out - and for what it’s worth !!  Perhaps next season (nearly forgot), Gash should be more of a cover for the central defenders.

I’m with KES on this. But I think there is rom for optimism, and that’s coming from a glass half empty man, or what used to be called a realist.  My optimism for next season, as I’ve bored people with before, comes from the Slough and York games.  If we are competitive next season, and can really mix it with all the opponents, I believe we can attract regular number like those seen at the two games I mentioned.  We have to sell the potential, somehow, OUTSIDE the ground.  We may not have the best ground at this level, but we are capable of being amongst the biggest attendances.

That’s very good news !  On the Hospital End, good question from B & Q.  We badly need a stand at the Hospital End, covered, and deeper, plus, IMHO, steeper terrace at  the Tennyson End.  I know it’s money, money, money, but if we prefer this level or the League, and can sustain it, it’s essential.  It would almost certainly be imperative if we are serious about the League, eventually.

With you on that, Dazza.  I think that, at his fittest, he would have been a top player at any National League club.  You could see when he came on against Portsmouth that he would have gained a place in their team as well - he was their level too.  A real loss, especially as our club aspires, next season, to reach the level he was already at, IMHO....

It DOES KES , I agree with that.  But it. feels worse for me, being what some like to call a “purist”.  It often looks to me that certain managers often take off the player causing the opposition the most problems, and replacing him with a safety first type player.  It happens here under IC, whose opinions I do, of course, respect, considering the two years he’s given us. It seldom works, IMHO, because, it gives the opponents the initiative.  And I would like to say I don’t understand the opinion of some on here who aren’t completely onside with SC.  I think he has done us proud, and I hope he retains his interest and ambitions.
