General Discussion / Re: Southport Saturday POSTPONED
« on: March 02, 2020, 01:04:26 PM »
Many people bought tickets for the Bradford PA game that was called off, which I assume are valid for the rearranged fixture. This is money already in the bank.
and the Southport game.

Gateshead won only their FOURTH away game of the season last night and joined KING'S LYNN as the only other team to have won at Boston this season!
Great achievement.

Yet more rain in the forecast for the north west over the next couple of days which isn't likely to help us.  Big question for IC is how much he rings the changes from the side that lost at Chester, even though the winner came in injury time and he thought we gave them their goals they also had plenty of other chances on the highlights but hardly unexpected as they are a good side.

I am not a fan of Burrows at left back but IC seems to want to shoehorn him in there, for me I would go with a back three and play wing backs, leave Richards and Alfie to sit in the middle of the park and then we have plenty of options for the front three.  I think Sonny has been unlucky to be the one sacrificed for Power and maybe Saturday might be the time to give Southwell his first start but I think you could make a case for any of the attacking options to slot in with Marriott, just need to find the right combination as maybe teams have started to work us out a bit more.
[quote/Altrincham may be the biggest scorers in the league at hoem but KLTFC are the biggest away scorers so 0-0 then. NOT!

The first thing would be to find a UK manufacturer to make and supply the shirts. These are very few and far between and there would be minimum quantities if you can find somebody to actually make them. Normally anything from 25 to 50 at a time to make it worthwhile for the factory to obtain fabrics, labelling, trims such as collars and cuffs etc.
It is not as easy as it sounds.
For instance Joma on a special order is minimum 300 garments of a style.
Also i was responsible for supplying all the kits from the Lynn News days and that particular manufacturer i have not used myself (Double G Clothing) for at least 2 years as they were scaling down the business and subbing out lots of the work which created numerous problems such as black trimmed garments that should of been dark green with the response being the member of staff that produced them is colour blind!
Great idea but not an easy fix.

Quite right it was an improvement, just think it needs to be made bigger. Further down under the covered side and a wider neutral zone to keep the two sets of idiots apart. It wasn't all Boston, and from what I here there are quite a group of non -footballing "Fans" going to Boston on Wednesday NOT to watch football!
Turned out to be a teddy bear picnic then yesterday nice and peaceful. thought the Boston crowd were at a wake! LOL!
The York Street benches were an accident waiting to happen though. How health and safety haven't closed it off i will never know.
Ticket office was a bit of a joke also acting as a clubshop but through a window! Thankfully we were there early enough not to wait to long.
What i was impressed with was the commercial side that is obviously rampant. I know from visits to the Gliderdrome that the Pilgrim Lounge is usually very busy with various functions and the selection of various foods and drinks that were available yesterday was very good. Bit like when Posh Nosh used to do the Walks.
There is a massive improvement needed commercially at KLTFC so hopefully Mark Hearle (good luck) will fall back on what he saw in the early 2000s with every game sponsored, Blue and Gold Function room fully booked every friday and saturday night along with sunday christenings, wakes in the week, Polling Station, referee training centre etc. Also a proper clubshop with plenty of stock for the supporters to walk in, pick up and pay on the day. 100 club EVERY home game, Bonus ball every week, end of season fundraising nights, presentation days/ nights and the legendary pre match lunches and Christmas lunches and auctions of memorabilia. Thats just for starters.

General Discussion / Talking of Legends
« on: December 13, 2019, 05:20:50 PM »
Tomorrow will not only see Mick Wrights passing with a minutes applause or silence but also another legend for his hospitality and catering skills has also died this week. Les Philp for many years responsible for the hospitality and catering for KLTFC, also owner of Grants Restaurant in King's Lynn, ex manager of Hunstanton Fc and Arsenal and King's Lynn FC fanatic, died at the age of 70.
His 3 course lunches for £10 were phenominal and fully booked week in and week out plus the Christmas lunches that myself and kevin Chase used to put on for a FULL Blue and gold Club every pre Christmas matchday.
R.I.P both Mick and Les. Neither will ever be forgotten, one for his football skills the other for his culinary skills (as well as his football support).

Worrying words from SC, and I definitely donít have any answers for him. The shortfall is remarkable surely adding a commercial manager is worth the risk to see if we can make a dent in that?
John Fincham was the last commercial manager KLFC had that was worth his salt. (No disrespect toanyone else who held the title but who John didnt know around West Norfolk wasn't worth knowing).
Then before the old club went bust i discussed my partner Christine with the club. She was travelling on behalf of Double G Clothing around the East of England daily/weekly and we offered that on 10% COMMISSION ONLY she would call on businesses etc to try and sell advertising, sponsor boards, sponsorship etc. The vehicle and fuel were already supplied so it would NOT have cost the club a single penny. The offer was refused!
Mr Cleeve told us that we had a new commercial manager at least 18 months ago, how many days did that last?
Personally from my previous experience of running the Supporters Club, Clubshop, Functions, away travel etc we are missing a huge trick here.  I would love to hand over the books from what was handed over weekly to support the old club just to show what we are capable off.
My idea would be to have a general/commercial manager/bar manager etc to do all of the above but working on a percentage basis but to ensure that if they are promised 10% for example of what they bring in then that is what they get.
I will put on my tin hat ready for the flack!

This information may be out of date but they obviously have a fairly sophisticated organisation structure.
One listed is Rob Castle(formerly of King's Lynn) who i went to school with at KES. His parents ran the Grosvenor Hotel on the corner of Broad street.
According top the list he is a committee member and match treasurer.

Amazing experience for the lads to take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road last night, unfortunately going down to a 6-1 defeat but a remarkable achievement.
From Neil Fryatt and all the team/squad downwards, well done.

General Discussion / Ressies top scorer

Was well impressed with Joeseph Taylor last season in the Ressies. This year so far he has scored 12 of the 22 goals that the Ressies have scored along with being missing games while on the subs bench for the 1st team.

Well done the youth team, it would be great if they could get a league outfit on the walks. Is there cash involved in the youth cup, does anybody know?

At the end of the day why are people so frightened that they have to hide behind a made up name. If something is worth saying be brave enough to post it as your REAL Name.
Stan is certainly not the first to bring this up. In the early days of the Forum there were so many childish pathetic sad little people bleating off, but not brave enough to back it up with their actual name. Most of those have crawled back into thye gutter but there is still a few.

Definitely cancelled at the last minute with the apprentices then inforfmed less than 48 hours before and in 1 case not informed at all (and he still turned up!)
This meant that those lads then were very late finding alternative education etc but i believe they have all found it elsewhere otherwise it would of been disastrous for them.
Perhaps now the RESSIES can come back to the Walks being as the Academy will not be using it. (Said with tongue in cheek).
