General Discussion / Re: Kings Lynn Reserves
« on: June 14, 2019, 11:01:54 AM »
All fair points KES80.  With promotion the gap down to the reserves is now too wide and with the new academy starting in September that has to be one of the main priorities for the club.  I guess it then depends on the level of games the academy can compete at as to how you then find suitable 'adult' football for those players and those that little bit older who might still be on the radar of the first team.  Personally I think loans to various local sides are a more viable option, yes it takes a bit more organisation and management, but probably a better way to develop individual players, in the way Natty Stewart and Harry Limb were sent out last season rather than trying to run another side that has very little relevance to the first team.

If someone wanted to go through all the hassle of setting up a King's Lynn based team to compete in the Thurlow Nunn then I am sure the club would gladly look to loan players there but the focus of what is still a very limited infrastructure has to be on the first team and academy.

As for the current Wisbech move for the reserves this season, it smacks as a bit of an afterthought and I certainly wouldn't have thought this is anything more than a short term solution
How can EIGHT yes EIGHT signings be classed as an ACADEMY. at that rate they will play in a Lynnsport 5 a side league. Yet another Whim.

Paul its great that you are coming up with all these wonderful ideas but the most important thing at this point in time is to KEEP OFF the playing surface. I am sure it is today that Steve starts whatever is necessary to achjieve another great playing surface.
15 or so years ago the marquee on the football pitch ,the first weekend after the season finished, was a massive moneyspinner. Friday night 400 sitting for dinner with celebrity after dinner speakers/auctions/heads and tails/raffles etc. Saturday night 400 more people in for the Soul music nights and ialso used the Blue and Gold clubroom, and then sunday a REAL presentation day including buffet for supporters and players.
2 years running at the friday night auctions Arsenal shirts fetched over 3000 each, without numerous other items to auction.
Yes there was the cost of the marquee but with the attached beer tent which was permanently rammed and never enough staff the whole weekends took a huge amount of money.
Then when the marquees were taken down Maurice would start on the pitch although he really wanted to start as soon as the laswt ball of the season had been kicked.
When we had a real clubshop that i ran under the Supporters club banner, vast amounts of monies were handed over to the club for various purchases. 100 club paid out 100 at EVERY home game, Bonus ball weekly, Coaches or minibuses to virtually every away game but most of all the club had a commercial manager in the shape of John Fincham who with his banking background new exactly who to approach as he did with his Arsenal contacts for the auction.

Wonder how many tickets South Shields or Warrington will ask for for their spies being as one of them will already be in the final.

If Stourbridge were to withdraw and Stratford kicked out would the outcome be
King's Lynn V Biggleswade
Alvechurch v Coalville
OR if Stratford not kicked out and Stourbridge withdraw it would be
King's Lynn V Coalville
Alvechurch V Stratford

Going back not that many years the Presentation evenings were always well supported by SUPPORTERS in the Blue and Gold, it was more the players wanted to be in town INSTEAD, having their end of season P up there, and such as the like of setting of fire alarms and extinguishers etc.
Will we be presenting last seasons trophies this season? Just change the winners details.

General Discussion / Re: Banbury
« on: April 08, 2019, 01:56:58 PM »
Hi Tony, yes i went and there were 2 excellent performances 1st half , firstly Lynn with at least 75% possesion and secondly their keeper who well and truly kept them in the game. Even with the 1 goal on the break we thought we were still in the game. Second half, something in the half time tea? There was only one team going to win it and they did. We were nothing like the same team as the first half and credit to Banbury they did not allow us to be. Another difference was the subs. Their 2nd goalscorer was a real handful when he came on, the same could not be said for our subs.
Banbury kept their record of not losing at home to any top 6 side and second half although another breakaway late goal they IMO could of had more.

This is the first post for a very long time for various reasons. I find the actions of a few to be absolute disgraceful. Kieran is a very well mannered young man who had suffered an horrendous injury just as he was breaking into the King's Lynn Town 1st team in 2018.He is now thankfully making a comeback and for some idiot/idiots to hide behind there keypads and give that sort of racist remark and disgusting comments, is dreadful. King's Lynn Ultras need to get a life. If someone was to say BOO to them they would mess themselves. Get your backpacks on and just keep walking, singing your silly girlie songs and just hope that a REAL Ultra never crosses your path. As for their employees we need to have them named and shamed surely you mean headmasters and teachers. Aren't the backpacks to carry their homework around in, and a spare pair of boxer shorts? They will need them!
