Rest assured that those of us who have been heavily involved as ' nuts and bolts' people at the Club in previous years know how much you both contributed financially and practically.
Sadly it is the way of the world that those who quietly get on with the job are always under appreciated.

Dilly, I mentioned a marquee weekend not day. Is 14000 profit at 2006 prices to be sniffed at?
It is all part of encouraging and allowing engagement by supporters by organising as many activities as you can. That is how you build the community involvement that is so lacking at the moment.

On a more positive note, several years ago a few Trust members put together a list of over 20 fundraising ideas ranging from selling seats on the team bus for away games through to the end of season marquee weekend at the Walks so the ideas are out there.

Sadly the Chapmans weren't interested in outsider involvement and obviously neither is Mr.Cleeve.

Mallard, your remark re previous business ventures probably sums up the attitude of the Town's business community towards the present owner.
 What goes round comes round.

I want to be the one eyed dinosaur ' Do-you-think-he-saw-us '.

But on a serious note, there is a wealth of talent and experience out there waiting to be given the chance to be involved with fundraising BUT if the owner doesn't want to let people in then it ain't gonna happen.

I think a figure of 14 grand was mentioned one year: raised from the sporting dinner with guest speaker on the Friday evening and a Northern Soul dance on the Saturday.

The marquee was then used for the end of season function on Sunday lunchtime

General Discussion / Next season start date

I read an item today which suggested that Sept 5th or 12th is being tentatively considered as a restart date for step 6 and above. There was no mention of whether supporters will be allowed into grounds at that time.

It doesn't need to be ' doh ', Oberon. People are posting re items that they feel could be improved...that is positive and constructive criticism. They are also posting praise where they think it is appropriate.

Sadly social media loses all the tone and inflection that you would find if the same comments were made over a pint.
