General Discussion / Re: Match preview for Peterborough« on: August 03, 2021, 10:06:44 PM »
Yes, I thought we played very well. The keeper's distribution put us under pressure a couple of times but he also made two very good saves.
Who got the goal...we weren't sure from our spot in the stand? 153

It was the Oldham game, B and G, with stewards supplied by Boston Utd who were, or recently had been, in the League.
The reasoning was that soft drink bottles complete with cap could be filled with water ( or whatever) and used as a missile. 154

Some of us know exactly what happens from an operational point of view on matchday as we did it for many years and I doubt that much can have changed over the intervening years.
Just get everything in place and create the right atmosphere to part people enjoyably and painlessly from their money! 155

Pre-2009 there was a very popular Vice President's Club ( probably 50 VPs at that time) where the matchday sponsors mixed with the VPs. Tea / coffee and biscuits at half time and basic hot food after the game and a very lively atmosphere.
There was also a pre-match carvery for supporters which was always a sell-out. I don't think it produced a huge financial return as it was priced to sell BUT it gave supporters a feeling of involvement and opened up other income streams. I can't see any of the above happening again, sadly. 157

Malcolm, congratulations on your new position and well done for taking it on.
Can I just say that I think Mallard has raised a very valid point as to what will be the focus of the fundraising. I would be happy to join and to support any events / activities if I could see a direct result of the fundraising. I know you have a lot going on at the moment so perhaps you could firm up your thoughts over the next few weeks and get back to us. 163
General Discussion / Re: Archie Mair to go on loan ?« on: June 30, 2021, 02:58:53 PM »
Those were the days when keepers had to bounce the ball every 4 steps in their way to the edge of the area. I remember Kev bouncing it onto his big toe and giving it straight to the Sheff Utd forward ( who being the perfect gentleman gave it back to Kev with a smile).
