General Discussion / Re: Expectation
« on: November 23, 2021, 06:05:00 PM »
We are repeatedly seeing post's regarding aquiring the services of a proven striker, Yes that is a need but seems the fact that we have yet to keep a clean sheet in any games this season has been totally overlooked.
Yes we can admire IC principals but are those principals losing the team an unacceptable number of points? Take the Wrexham game Pierce Bird received a hefty push in the back prior to his short backpass , I have a feeling had that been a Wrexham player or indeed a player from most other National League sides they would have gone to ground with a  exasperated yell, the same move keeper Jones arrived first at the short back pass instead of a hefty boot behind it to clear , Jones dwelled on the ball looking for a pass only for the ball to get played by the Wrexham player into the middle leading to the goal.
That is just one of many occasions where playing fair or applying pricipals has been the teams downfall this season.
Hindsight a wonderfull thing but full time playing staff has in my opinion backfired badly on Lynn, as a part time outfit in the National League, Lynn and a few other lower teams in the league had the pick of the crop of part time players. Full time only younger players who realistically are not yet wanted by the Ex- league full time outfits in this league.

Colman and McGavin would be my first two names down for a midfield start. Plenty of Ipswich fans consider him unlucky that his face not fitted with Paul Cook.

Incosiderate of Barnet they could have waited until after they had played Lynn at least.
Mind you we thought loss to Southend was a creditable loss  but that is the only game they have won to date.

How quickly the loan recall has happened suggests this may well be another Elkan Baggott situation. With the desperation we endured last season putting out a team on a week by week basis we had need to endure, but this year with a full time squad surely is not acceptable.

General Discussion / Re: New signing

Mick, feel sure S Cleeve said on a recent live stream that Rory mcAuley and Kyle McFadden were contracted for next season.

With Gash and Jarvis both leaving, hopefull that Simion Jackson is signed for next season to add the required experience and know how to next seasons squad.

Got a gut feeling that King and Jones will both be released due to ongoing injury problems, hence the latest signing could be earmarked for the right back slot.

Ipswich boss Paul Cook, is certainly having a clearout at Portman Road with both experienced pro's and several promising youngsters being shown ther door.
Any within Lynn's approach and budget? One such is 21 year old Jack Lancaster, would be a welcome addition to our striker options.

Whilst in no way denying that Archie Mair is an outstanding prospect, personally I don't consider he was the right fit for a newly promoted team to National League. Whatever the Pedro problem was that ship has long since sailed. Next season would like to see an experienced keeper brought in as top priority. A keeper not afriad to shout at and bully the defenders in front of him into shape, a keeper to consider anything into the six yeard box to be his responsibility. Where would such a keeper be found ?  Like our current loanee Richardson, Josh Pope is playing at step 4 just down the road at Soham Town. Just think the game that Wrexham keeper Dibble played at the Walks and he was only their second choice.

Like you Mallard very surprised that it was not a season long loan, unless Lynn agreed a release rather than keep a want away player.

It looks like the management had some clue that a move for Power might be on the cards with the signing of the winger from St Ives. Cosidering that the Alex Kiwomya signing look to be a replacement for Loza.

General Discussion / Re: Halifax

Encouraging as the results and performances were agaist Torquay and Halifax, it has been competing against the big physical sides that has proved to be our undoing so far this season. I guess we will know pretty quickly overr the next few weeks if that has been addressed.

I would not like to see the Smith, McFadden partnership split, however to add moe physicality to the back row wonder if McAuley might be included at left back

Yesterdays, MOM for me Jarvis, without his reading of the game from the back, not at all sure playning two wide men would work.
