General Discussion / Re: Dover at home Saturday
« on: November 22, 2020, 09:38:06 PM »
I had to find the Dover manager's interview to check out what he was unhappy about, seems he did not agree with their red card prior to the penalty and he thought Sonny Carey should have received a red for the trip near half-way line.
But seems he has referee issues most times when Dover loose he could be seeing more red's before the season is through.

Not only the players, looks like I Culverhouse has learnt a lot during the opening weeks of this season, in that we are now competing against teams that are bigger , faster and in being full time fitter than we have been used to playing.
We are now denied both the time and space to play the kind of football that has got us this far.
However the good news is that we are learning and are adapting, having said that we do need points on the board to see us through December with with three tough away games plus Torquay and Notts County to contend with at home.

11m  over 3 NL  divisions can see that being used to satisfy the nine clubs that have been complaining of being short-changed.

Fingers crossed there is no slip-up against Dover, remembering last season we were going for promotion, only to lose at home to lowly Kidderminster then 0-2 against rock bottom Bradford PA.

Aware that there is the Setch link at Bedford, but Pedro is better than step 4 keeper, with forthcoming lockdown will not be playing for a month below step2 anyway.
I did hear that Boston we watching the situation here at The Walks when we signed Mair, Kettering also NLN
Then several step 3 clubs within 50 or 60 miles. Peterborough Sports, Leiston. Lowestoft, Needham Mkt.

Mentioned earlier in the post of Alfie Payne reported in EDP to be training with Leiston.
Rumoured that Ryan Fryatt has been contacted by Boston.

Strange that the opening post on this topic should mention the prudent approach of Gloucester City toward the resumption of National League football.

Within the last few days, Gloucester has announced the signings of goalkeeper Jake Cole from Maidstone, midfielder George Carline from Solihull Moors plus striker Akwasi Asante from Chester.  Asante has previously been mentioned in similar terms of demand as that of our Adam Marriott.

Just for good measure Glouster City are also moving into a new stadium of their own.

Do think we underestimate the more lowly teams that is 5 out of 6 points dropped  to Glouster and Kidderminster
Before the first goal went in we played as if they were there for the taking, fingers crossed that lesson has been well and truly learned.
Although I don't think it would have made any difference, we were very short-changed on time added on at the end considering all of Kidderminster changes and times they had the trainer on.

I seem to remember Braintree stating last season as reason or excuse for their relegation from National League was because they were part-time whilst the rest of the league were largely full time.
