General Discussion / Re: Comings and goings?

TW could play Stephens and Barrett either side of Gold or Ponticelli. Or maybe 2 up top and a 3 man midfield, or Barrett in front of 2 others and behind 2 strikers

Regarding Ponticelli, 1 Wrexham fan on FB reckons he's a hard worker and surprised he went to us and not an EFL side, whilst another likened him to someone chasing a carrier bag around a car park

They do indeed, near the free car park.

To be fair to the trial keeper, Nemesis, he didn't have a 6ft4 target to go long to

Jones didn't look half as switched on as the trial keeper.
Aaron Jones was lively. Coulson was very assured. Denton and Scott nothing remarkable to say good or bad. Crowther impressed me. Hargreaves was pumped and energetic throughout. Widdrington pulled off a lovely bit of skill first half. Clunan solid. Omatayo a handful at both ends. Walker I barely noticed.

Why does Boris whistle when sat on the toilet?
So he remembers which end to wipe

There will of course be signings. it seems apparent that they are trimming down first/building up the budget. Also, Clunan's Instagram post came up as a suggestion when I was on there earlier and it was a photo of him on holiday so perhaps the contract will be sorted when he's back.

I guess playing a low defensive line would help negate the lack of pace.
I'm very keen to see how we play next season, TW/HL obviously played relegation tactics and put square pegs in round holes. I'd like to know how they'd approach a season where presumably promotion is the goal

Great news. It certainly seemed probable when Southend loaned him out/released him

Just seen that Norwich have released Aston Oxborough, Norfolk born goalkeeper who I believe was at Wealdstone last year

So KL now have a CEO. :welcome: he spoke briefly on Radio Norfolk this morning but didn't really say any more than what has already been published, also dodged the fulltime/part time question

General Discussion / Re: Is TW the right man
« on: May 15, 2022, 08:27:29 PM »
How good really is Tommy Widrington and is he the right man for next season. In Tommy’s 27 league games we got 26 points. That is 0.9629 points per game on average. Based on that, if he had been here all season, we would have got 42.37 points, so ok under what Aldershot got. Would we have still been relegated? Well maybe, maybe not, I’m just pointing out that his 27 league games (result wise) were not overly impressive.
The one thing that i would question is why he didn’t bring in a goal scorer. Had he have done so, we may have gained that extra place and avoided relegation. Next season will be against teams of a lower quality than we faced this season, so how will we judge him. A lot of people are expecting us to at least be in the play offs and some even think we will win the NLN. Tommy will obviously want to win it, so good luck to him, I just hope he can find a better strike partnership.

Whilst stats don't cover this, I think it's worth noting that TW didn't have a pre season, and he had to instill a polar opposite playing style to the team. He also seemed to get GO and ML scoring.
I'm not sure how he will approach the NLN, we surely don't want to go in with an inferiority complex and backs to the wall

Golds scored alot of his career goals under TW and is contracted for another season I believe, also entering his prime years. Barrett I think has another year too.
I'd assume Coulson is surplus to requirements at Southend, he nor Jones aren't getting any younger and have the experience the squad lacks.
I don't think King will play again, not sure about McFadden but hopefully he gets back to fitness.
The others I too would like to stay.
Gyasi being loaned out because for developments sake or to get rid?

I wonder what system/formation we will go with next season.
