I had the privilege of seeing Bobby at White Hart Lane in the late sixties. Truly a class act. I'm sure my team (Spurs) lost the match but I didn't mind as it was such a free flowing game end-to-end stuff ! My gripe with modern footballers and commentators is when they explain a bad miss or pass is that "it's on his wrong foot". NO such problems with Sir Bobby -- some cracking goals with a REAL football and with either foot ! R.I.P.

I've always rated him BUT think he's lost some pace and may struggle in the National League. Plus I guess he still lives locally (?) ... has he factored in returning home from Aldersh*t in the middle of winter ?

D*mn and blast ! We booked a long weekend from 25th to 28th way back in the Spring ! Ah well, I'll have to rely on my beloved wife and her iphone to keep me up to date. At least I can set TV up to record the game.

Bishops Stortford 2006 I believe ? Their ground was packed with great atmosphere altho' some of the locals didn't take the defeat very well ! Didn't Adam Smith score from 2 free kicks ?

Just a thought - with the spiralling costs of electricity etc plus BST ending very soon surely it must be worth considering changing all Saturday kick-off times for non-league clubs to 1pm ? Games should be over by 3 and therefore no need to switch on the floodlights.

By pure chance I literally bumped into Jimmy Greaves in 1996 during the interval of The 3 Tenors concert at the old Wembley Stadium. I shook his hand and told him he was a hero of mine. Had a chat for a few minutes. Lovely chap, no swank or pretence.

I'm pretty sure that the Walks stadium and all the land around it known as the 'Walks' cannot be built on or sold for housing development unless an Act of Parliament is passed. It's protected in perpetuity I understand.
