Very good result today and a big well done to Gold. Credit and praise were due, I’m sure that will give him a huge confidence boost.

Unfortunately Coastal, I don’t think he would ever be prolific. For his size and build he should dominate much more. Didn’t he start off his career as a goalkeeper, I seem to remember him saying. I remember him chesting the ball down for Barrett to score a 40 yard volley at Peterborough Sports, but I will remember him best for his goal at Doncaster Rovers.

General Discussion / Re: Lynn lose« on: February 26, 2025, 03:31:14 PM »John, tell me you didn’t expect us to get beat there tonight ? Mallard, no it wasn’t any surprise that we lost, our current form is poor. We can’t score or keep clean sheets, so only one outcome there. I think people’s expectations have definitely changed. As you say, no new forward looks likely, so unlikely to make the play offs. All seems mysterious that we have bought in someone by now. When Culverhouse was manager, he had it seems, better contacts. I recall Simon Power coming on loan from Norwich and making his debut v York (what a day that was). Re the York game, we played attractive passing football. Irrespective to or current results, our football is not pleasing on the eye, that is down to the AL I guess. Just watched his post match interview and pleased that he wasn’t looking for excuses and admitted that the best team won. If he can’t bring new players in, then he has to make do with what he has. He will still believe that the play offs are achievable, somehow he has to get the players to believe in it too. 4

No shame losing away at Kidderminster, hey Mallard.
AL must be starting to wonder how safe his job is. 5

Did we actually try to sign Toll, I didn’t think we did. Wasn’t he on a short trial with us.
Re B&G “would AL want his contract renewed”, hopefully not, but I’m sure he will feel he hasn’t achieved what he would have hoped for, unless of course we make the playoffs and gain promotion. We were playing Stockport and Wrexham not long ago, they are both in play off places in League One now. We don’t have the financial backing or support that they do, so where is our level. If we don’t gain promotion, will we go part time. 6

Full time club, full time job maybe. Ok, simple question, would you renew his contract.

The lure of full time football was one of the reasons AL took the job. The expectations at Lynn always seem to be very high. We gained promotion under IC to the National League and had two seasons there, it was as expected, very difficult. Of course AL is frustrated, he wants to win football games. He knows the problem is lack of scoring, even if he doesn’t want to admit it. Our leading scorer has scored just 8, if you don’t address that, then don’t expect to achieve success.

As for new players coming in surely we would have seen them join by now. Time is slipping away. You almost sound like a 1-0 defeat was a good result for us. Looking at it slightly different, with our lack of scoring goals, the game was all over after just 6 minutes. Do you really think we will come away from Kidderminster with anything, I suppose a 0-0 would be good. Going to be a tough ask to finish in a playoff spot but if we can, then who knows. Hopefully the talked about new signings include a decent forward, could make the difference. 9
General Discussion / Re: Lakeland’s slap in the face.« on: February 16, 2025, 08:55:10 PM »Think you are missing the point Uptoon. Surely it’s a 9 ( or 10) we need not yet another wide player. Think we are coveted in that area. Saturday we had no striker on the bench. So with chasing the game we had little to no option to change things. Definitely agree, so reminiscent of Widdrington signing non forwards when we couldn’t score. The only decent forward we have is Margetts, so if he isn’t scoring we will struggle. AL has a forward currently on trial, but get the feeling he isn’t quite up to it. Would like to see an approach put in for Toll. As well as we played yesterday, we need to score goals and it’s normally forwards that do that. Playoffs are still there to go for, so I'm sure AL is doing everything he can. 10
General Discussion / Re: Travelling Linnets superb away win« on: February 08, 2025, 10:49:18 PM »
A very good win today, so well done all. Last couple of games were disappointing result wise, so excellent stuff today, clean sheet too. I still think we need a forward, would be interesting to see Toll here, pretty sure he would do ok. Will need to be more clinical in front of goal if we get to the play offs. Well done for today.

Agree with a lot of Hello Kitty post. I used to be a regular for many years, I’ve been twice since the Kidderminster playoff defeat. Never thought that I would, but I have totally lost any interest in going. I do go to the Walks every Saturday, but that’s to do parkrun and I never come away disappointed.
Last week I made some comments towards the radio commentary to which there were a few comments. I listened to some of it today and yes, I was somewhat harsh on the lad, so for that I apologise. Some constructive criticism though, would to be a little less bias, but well done and thank you. I wish I had the same enthusiasm to go and watch the team like I once had and I’m going back as far as the Lindsay / Wright / Easthall days. 13
General Discussion / Re: Rushall away« on: January 28, 2025, 10:00:09 PM »
Probably a point gained. Were we ever going to score, it sounded pretty dire along with the commentator, where on earth did they get him from, embarrassing and littered with mistakes and dross.
Not being able to score is going to cost us any chance of a play off. 14
General Discussion / Re: Rushall away« on: January 28, 2025, 07:19:09 PM »Sorry John not buying into that. Away to one of the bottom 4 Clubs has to be targeted as an expected 3 points. Radcliffe on Saturday the same. Now is the time to deliver as there will be much harder games coming after this where we can’t realistically expect to gain wins.I hope you’re right Mallard, would be great to get all 3 points. Although just because a team is in a play off spot is playing a team in a relegation spot, doesn’t guarantee a win. Having just seen our starting 11, with no recognised forward again, we may struggle to score. Can see AL’s post match interview saying “it’s always a hard place to go, especially on a rainy Tuesday evening’. Hope I’m wrong, but could see us losing. Guess Margetts will come on at some point, but he can’t be fully fit, otherwise he would have started. Predicting a 2-1 defeat. Never good at predictions, so hoping that continues. 15
General Discussion / Rushall away« on: January 27, 2025, 08:44:20 PM »
With the exception of their 7-0 defeat against Spennymoor, Rushall have had four wins recently beating the likes of Scunthorpe and Kidderminster, so anyone thinking we should win their May want to have a rethink. We had a narrow 2-1 win when we played them at home, goal scorers were Margetts and Omotayo. They are unlikely to be in the team tomorrow, so will need to rely on others scoring, maybe a new loanee forward. To keep a nice gap between us and 8th spot, a win would be very useful.
