Score prediction KL 2 - 1 BS. With us being full time, our fitness should be better, because the temperature is forecast be above 30c, which will play a part. Looking forward to seeing if Omotoyo is better at this level (scoring goals), hopefully he is. As for attendance, 1008. Good luck to the team

Really pleased for Omotoyo today. I didn’t rate him last season, but TW obviously believes he is good enough, so we have to trust his judgement. Bradford PA are the bookies rank outsiders to win the NLN, the whether that turns out to be justified, only time will tell. There are several positives to take from today, a win, away from home, on a plastic pitch, clean sheet, Omotoyo scoring (great confidence booster for him). I’m sure he believes in his own ability, so hopefully todays goal was his first of many. Well done to all the team and TW. Looking forward to our home game v Blyth.

Didn’t go to any pre season games so not sure of starting 11, but would think it would be similar to the Lowestoft game. Hopefully Omotoyo will be better at this level and will be a regular goal scorer. Agree with others that this league will be tough, we may have had two seasons in the National League, but we simply weren’t good enough in either of them. I’m sure lessons have been learnt. Staying full time will help and overnight travelling will do too. With the much improved training facilities in Ely as well, the team should be well prepared for match day. Barrett, again can’t comment, but if he is fully fit would be a real asset. If he does get fully fit though, would he stay. Bradford Park Avenue have a non grass pitch, so hopefully we will adapt to that. When we won promotion to tge NLN, our aim that season was to not get relegated, we just happened to win it. Maybe Peterborough Sports will do that this season. Score prediction BPA 0 - 2 KL here’s hoping.

Yes, most of the home games. Not having someone who could score certainly didn’t help. I would have liked to have seen Joe Taylor given a few games, we needed someone who new how to score, because Omotoyo was pretty woeful. I thought some of the football played under IC wasn’t that bad, but without any real goal threat, it was inevitable we would struggle. TW came in and if you watch his first interview again, he says about only needing to go up two places. In all honesty we never got even close, even if there was the remotest glamour of hope as Aldershot went on a losing streak. Why do you think Tommy never brought in a striker, did he really think it wasn’t needed. There is no doubting Tommy’s passion and this season it will completely his team, so hopefully he does well. I’m looking forward to the new season and watching my team, who will hopefully be at the top end of the league, unlike last season.

Agree with Tony M. IC brought some sparkle to the team, I would prefer he was here now, rather than TW. I liked Ian’s style of passing football. That is in the past unfortunately, so we have to now back Tommy. Hopefully he will do well.

TW didn’t impress me last season, but he can have no excuses this season, although saying that, the pitch looks far from ideal. I’m pleased he has brought in two forwards, only time will tell how good they are. Jordan from Wrexham, you would assume should be good at this level. People say the north is a physical league, is it any different to the south?, I doubt it. Previous comment said, any relegated side would be looking to be in the play offs. To get there in the first place we had some good fortune in regard to when the NLN was stopped for covid, as our form was very poor. We also had Marriott and Gash scoring regularly. Apparently, we have got two opening games that we ‘should win’. Umm, Bradford Park Avenue, remember what happened the last time we played them. They were bottom, we were top and we lost 1-0 at home. Staying full time, should give us an advantage, hopefully we can make that count. Maybe TW should take 10 games at a time to see where we are, it worked to good effect for IC. If we can get off to a good start, that would be great, but it’s a long season. Expectations - there will be some good teams, not least Boston United. Top third is my expectation.

I don’t have the same optimism as previously for a new season. I’m not a fan of TW, or his style of football. Our forwards were very poor and if we keep any of them, well then expect the same sort of scoring rate. The NLN is still a good league and we will straddle to score with what we appear to be keeping. Then there is TW’s recruiting skills, umm not impressed, but he managed to keep his step 3 son. Of course I hope I’m wrong. What’s the betting that Peterborough Sports finish above us.

I agree with you Mallard, IC was a great manager, in my opinion better than TW. I preferred Ian’s passing game, I also think he had better contacts. We have a lot to be thankful to him for. Managers come and go, I believe TW referred to being custodians for a while. While Tommy is here we must back him and his judgement. I’ve said on another post that I don’t think he overly impressed, but the new season will determine just how good he is. I think a play off place would be good.

How good really is Tommy Widrington and is he the right man for next season. In Tommy’s 27 league games we got 26 points. That is 0.9629 points per game on average. Based on that, if he had been here all season, we would have got 42.37 points, so ok under what Aldershot got. Would we have still been relegated? Well maybe, maybe not, I’m just pointing out that his 27 league games (result wise) were not overly impressive. The one thing that i would question is why he didn’t bring in a goal scorer. Had he have done so, we may have gained that extra place and avoided relegation. Next season will be against teams of a lower quality than we faced this season, so how will we judge him. A lot of people are expecting us to at least be in the play offs and some even think we will win the NLN. Tommy will obviously want to win it, so good luck to him, I just hope he can find a better strike partnership.

No, I would go back to part time. Whatever the benefits there are of being full time they didn’t stop us from getting relegated, barring a miracle. The cost of being full time is huge and our gates (Lynn fans) isn’t enough. I don’t know what sort of contracts the platers are on as regard full time football, or maybe that was dependant on staying in the National League. Next season should be about consolidating, any thoughts of an immediate return can be forgotten. The team will need to be rebuilt and the fans need to be patient.

Yes, maybe. Although, TW was allowed to sign 8 players, he just didn’t get a forward. Agree that good forwards don’t come cheap, but SC said he would do whatever it takes to keep us up. Now I realise there is only so much that he can do, but having said what he said and we never got a forward in is a little contradictory.
Wonder if we will remain full time next season, assuming we are in the NLN, what do you think?

Granted, IC didn’t bring in a forward. TW came in and could knew scoring goals was a problem. He signed, I believe 8 players, but not a goal scorer. Recently, we’ve been playing some good football, but without scoring, or posing much of a real threat. Had we signed someone in January, maybe we would be above Aldershot now. Anyway, we are where we are and although getting relegated will be disappointing, it’s not the end of the world. If TW is here for the start of next season, then I wish him well.
As for Paget Rangers, I’m not sure, but December 23rd rings a bell. Seem to remember it was Christmas time, can’t remember the year. I remember the kit, I had a Lynn shirt, which I had McNamara printed on the back. Was the year 1995? They were a good forward painting, also remover Martin Coupe and Kevin Ready, they knew how to score.

It’s all ifs and buts, but the fact is we’ve had two disappointing seasons at this level. We’ve had some very memorable seasons in recent times, so lots of good memories. Going forward I don’t feel TW is the right man, his style of play isn’t attractive. His body language in post match interviews along with excuses, ie pitch. Well I remember Lynn v Paget Rangers (we won 2-0) on a much worse pitch. I said we needed to win 4 of our last 6 games, so now we need to win the remaining 4 and hope Aldershot don’t pick up more than 4 points in their remaining 6 games, very unlikely however. So it will be back in the NLN and TW if still here will be chirping on about all the ‘big clubs’ who are really football league clubs, or should be in the National League, York, Chester, Hereford etc. He failed his set target of going up just two places. He seemed to think it was not difficult when he first came. He will say his PPG are better than IC’s were. Fact is, TW had over half a season, didn’t bring in good enough players, didn’t bring in any forward and didn’t get us out of the relegation spots. Ok, so please tell me why he should be here next season.

Well done to Setch and Bedford. Culverhouse was a class manager with good contacts, not impressed with Widdrington. Not bringing a forward in has contributed to us getting relegated. It amuses me how he goes on about our opponents are really league clubs, maybe once upon a time, but not at present. Cleave has done well for the club, but there isn’t enough paying fans to sustain National League football at full time level. Getting relegated is part of football, hopefully we can get to this level again and do things a bit better.

Will be a great atmosphere today, hopefully we can come away with all 3 points. Realistically though, we probably won’t. As for next season, lots of decisions to be made, personally I would like to see a new manager, TW has failed in what he was brought in for, didn’t even come close if we are being honest. Omotoyo has hit a bit of form, so his confidence will be good for today, hopefully he can find the net. Good luck to all the team.
