General Discussion / Re: King's Lynn v Stockport
« on: March 21, 2022, 11:13:16 AM »
We are not expected to win, but that certainly doesn't mean we can't. A draw might be said to be a good result, but we need to win to try and stay in this league.
The players will be in good spirits after Saturdays win. Will be a tough task, but if we take the game to them and can create chances then anything is possible. Lynn 2 Stockport 1. Here's hoping.

I'm sure TW has watched his interview back and realizes how he looks, blaming anything and everything apart from himself.
When things weren't going right during IC's reign, Ian would put the blame on himself.
This season both IC and TW have been in charge for 17 games each and they have both won 3 of them. Dover, Nantwich and Weymouth, all home wins under TW. Yeovil, Maidenhead, both away and Peterborough Sports at home under IC.
There has been no improvement under TW, just talk and excuses. Any self respecting person would offer their resignation at the end of the season and say sorry, I failed in what I aimed to achieve. TW's words were "we don't have to win the league, we just have to go up two league places".
We were playing some good football at the start of the season, we just couldn't score. That, even to now hasn't been addressed. When your centre forward has only scored 3 goals all season, you need to do something.
We may never get back to this level, so to get there AND have a 'free hit' season, it's disappointing that we just made up the numbers this season.
Is it time for SC to move on, I'm sure there are others who would be interested.

Just watched TW post match interview. What planet is he on. His talk has become repetitive and boring. He still thinks with 13 games left that we are ok and can stay up.
This season, IC was manager for 17 games and won 3 of them. Yes, not good, TW has had 16 games and also won 3, so unless we beat Torquay on Saturday, they are equal with wins.
Last season we all saw how tough this league is, but nothing has been learnt and we will be relegated. SC said he would do whatever it takes, TW said we only need to go up two league places., both will have failed.
The players TW has brought in are no better than what we had. He was brought in to keep us in the NL. If he fails to do that, he shouldn't be here for bext season. His excuses are lame, the pitch, the players aren't fit enough. Fact is, TW wasn't good enough.
At the start of the season, we weren't winning, but we were playing good football and I thought we would be ok. My thinking was that a goal scorer would be signed, but no, we've still got Omotoyo who has scored just 3 all season, oh and missed 2 penalties.

Another disappointment, that's what it is likely to be. Maidenhead know that a win for them would be massive in their quest to stay up. I think it will be 1-0, hopefully to us with Barrett the scorer.

A good effort fron the team. Hargreaves had a good game.. Not being able to score again, just one would probably have been enough. Omotoyo didn't even have a single effort at goal. Well done to Paul Jones and the defence for a clean sheet, if only we could score. Clunan was unlucky not to.

Score prediction KL 1 Bromley 3

Putting Gold in the side tells you all you need to know about TW

Great result and another clean sheet. TW's game plan worked with a well organized defence. Well done to Tommy and all the team.

General Discussion / Re: Grimsby Tuesday night
« on: February 07, 2022, 05:33:06 PM »
For sure Grimsby will be a tougher game than Weymouth, especially as they have home advantage. I don't like the expression 'free hit', IC used to say that a lot. You could say that Boreham Wood had that against Bournemouth.
Of course the win on Saturday over Weymouth was the most important, but the fact that we didn't concede was very pleasing too, the first clean sheet all season.
Coulson looked good, so hopefully with all his experience we will not concede so many goals. Grimsby's last home game was a 2-1 win against Wealdstone, so hopefully we can go a bit better and get a draw.
Grimsby have a couple of players injured and unavailable tomorrow.

On another note, what has happened to Omotayo. Is he injured, as he wasn't in the squad at the weekend, or apparently in the stand?

General Discussion / Re: Fabulous February.......

Great team performance today. Barrett is quality and really enjoyed himself today. Harry Phipps looks assured and I think Coulson did well too. Great reflex save by Jones to prevent an own goal. That was an important save with it only being 1-0 at the time.
A clean sheet too, so an all round good day. We'll done to all the team and TW

Totally agree it's how the club is run. I don't think where we are geographically is a real issue, other than we are never sure where we will be placed if we were one level below.
York as a population nearly 5 times of Lynn, so that has to be more advantages. I think they had over 2,500 for a recent league game and they are not doing particularly well.
Our fan base is pretty good, but only when we're doing well, I guess that's like many teams though.
I don't post a lot on here, but read most stuff. A few seem angry that we are not performing well. We must keep TW and see what happens next season. This one isn't over just yet either

Good post as always Tony. I was sorry to see IC go, I honk he has got better contacts than TW.  Bringing in his son from step 3 does make we wonder if he was just being a good dad and giving his son a helping hand. I may be wrong, but will see.
TW most definitely had his work cut out to keep us up, although I do believe he said he would, we only need to go up two places is what he said.
Real shame we didn't have forwards that could score, I feel that's what has cost us our NL status. Fact is though, we can't keep just moving up the leagues and being  at the top. There has to come a time when you reach your level and to be fair, we were fortunate to win the NLN. When the season was stopped, our form at the time was very poor.
The NL is a very good level and clubs need good support, the population of Lynn is quite low when compared to many other clubs in the NL.
If we go down and it looks likely we will, then we have to rebuild and get behind our team,. Prior to reforming, we didn't have a team to support,, as much as relegation is a bitter pill to swallow, it could always be worse.

Be interesting to see how many will go along to watch this one.

Surely if Tommy doesn’t get 3 points from this one then where does he go from there ?

3-1 home win for me

Would take a 1-0 win. We haven't scored 3 goals in a game for over four months and we can't keep a clean sheet, so I will go for a 2-1 win.
Barrett and Charles to start if fit.

General Discussion / Re: Kickstart the season?
« on: January 23, 2022, 09:13:12 PM »
If we were going to get a new forward, that would have happened by now. What decent forward who is good enough would want to actually come, with relegation looking most likely.
February sees us with 7 games, 5 of which are at home. Win all 5 home games and come the final game of the season we just need to win to stay up. Gold scores the winner in added time.

I watched TW's interview in which he hinted of a new player. Surely has to be a forward, but no its another midfielder. Don't point the finger at the forwards if they don't score he said. He must be on another planet if he really thinks the current 'top man' that would be GO. What fitting initials. Another defeat tomorrow then.

The cup game was at home to Histon, we got a last minute equaliser. We won the replay at Histon 8-0, it was 6-0 at half time.
