I spoke to Sam Mulready on Wednesday and he was still very doubtful about being able to play tomorrow. Fryatt's ban naturally rolls over to Saturday so it's likely Miller will deputise.

Far better for the players I'm sure knowing they've now got a massive window of opportunity to get into the First Team. I can't speak highly enough of those that have stepped up to the first team in terms of effort and performances.

If this becomes a model we can draw success from over the next 2-3 years, nothing to stop the Reserve team being fully re-integrated into the setup and potentially younger development teams. No better opportunity than now to get young talent involved with the club.

Backie has made a very significant contribution to the club in his first few months.

Also, Troy Deeney played and scored against us for Halesowen in our 3-2 win there in 2007.

I feel really sorry for Cambridge City supporters right now. I know their manager has been there 10+ years in spite of some of the challenges the club has faced. Demotion from Conf South in 2008 due to ground grading, the controversy surrounding the sale of Milton Road. Subsequent ground share agreements and also their proposed new ground in Sawston currently "on hold" due to complications after an initial approval.

Histon was an ideal location for ground share being so close to Cambridge, but the level of rent they were charging CCFC was a large factor in the decision to move after the initial two year deal expired. It's a shame the two parties couldn't work something out because there were benefits to both clubs at a time of need. Local football for City and rent money to Histon. City also had to fund ground improvements at St. Ives to bring it up to Southern Premier standards before the share deal was rubber stamped.

That was one of the worst pitches we played on when we were in the UCL !!
I remember during our first season we drew 2-2 there in absolutely atrocious conditions. Pitch was a total mudbath that day.

Both managers wanted to get the game on. Most of the players on both sides were also up for it. Spoke to some Cambridge City fans in the car park on the way out who were more embarrassed than anything else. They said the pitch was far worse when they played there on Saturday.
Round trip from their old ground to St. Ives is over 30 miles, so they've been let down by it all too.

What are the chances now of a January re-arrangement when the prevailing conditions are likely to be worse than they were last night?

It probably didn't help Quigz that he went from being part of a group that travelled to training and games (Bunting, Dunkley, Lee and Hall) to having to do the travelling on his own. I'm not entirely surprised that the frequent midweek trips to Manchester and beyond after being at work in the daytime took their toll.

As for Spriggsy, arguably the most frustrating player I've seen in a Lynn shirt! Last season summed up his Lynn career in my opinion. Brilliant when things were going well, scoring regularly and showing he is talented and capable at this level. Second half of the season when things got difficult, he was largely missing in action. Having said that, I think he would be very suited to this division.

Yes, I also noticed Spriggs didn't appear on their squad list on the website. Wonder where he's gone?

Before the old club went bust, yes. (I think it was called Ray's?)

It was converted into the cafe/club shop area during the changes made to the ground in the summer of 2010.

Quigz is a decent player at this level, no question. He was very much part of some great achievements here; and although he did let himself down towards the end I still wish him well.

If he did come back (purely for arguments sake), I'm just not sure who you would drop out of our current midfield to accommodate him. He certainly wouldn't be guaranteed a starting spot.

Before anyone shoots us down about 'Ex-Linnets' or so on, the only one of those three I'd consider putting into this squad would be Smith.

Perhaps another option the club could explore in exchange for some free/discounted sponsorship at the ground?

Hopefully, especially for those that don't get a football fix on Saturday and the fact the First Team's midweeker is on Wednesday night.

Hopefully a fair few people can make both games.

We didn't have any first team players playing only reserves who have played for the first, they will be playing this Saturday against March is my latest info, we may be stronger on Tuesday, certainly no weaker. As far as I am concerned this is a case of Downham being Downham.

Sorry tazzywazz; I made the same mistake as another post I was reading but can no longer find relating to first team players playing (it might have been on Facebook rather than here).

It's a shame as I think we'd have easily attracted 200+ with there being no First Team action on Saturday.
Are the gate receipts shared for NSC games?
