General Discussion / Re: Boston United on Boxing Day
« on: December 25, 2019, 05:53:35 PM »
Iím a little surprised that Mr Hill has never heard a racist comment at the Walks !  I never go to a game anywhere without hearing them all the time !

Malcolm and I sit in the Stands where we are all well behaved - not like the "peasants" down below  :laughcry: :laughcry: :laughcry:

We can hear the singing  :dontknow: :dontknow: from across the pitch which can be a bit coarse - calling opposition Northern b*****ds or W****rs.

I suspect that if we wandered amongst the crowds pitch-side we might hear adverse comments - If I did I would report.

General Discussion / Political and Racist Issues
« on: December 24, 2019, 06:43:54 PM »
Political and Racist Opinions should have their own Post and not tagged onto a different subject.

Quote from Stan on another Post:

"I hope Lynn win but I won't be at the match or any Lynn match in the future. During the last game, at home to Dover a comment was made to one of their substitutes from the crowd. The player looked at the crowd and someone shouted: " Hey, we've had Brexit now!" Many laughed; the player in question looked extremely uncomfortable. Needless to say, the Dover player was black. During the game another black Dover player was taunted continually throughout the game. No specific reference was made of an overtly racist nature but there was probably implicit racism in the taunts.
So, I've mulled this over for days and have decided - this is very difficult as I love supporting Lynn - not to attend any more games. I don't want to be in an environment where such attitudes are common.
So, I wish the team well and anyone who I've peed off on here, many apologies and happy Christmas!"   :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

You are quite right to object to any racist comments by fans at any football game.

General Discussion / Re: Team of the Decade?

Who would not be in my Team:

Jepson (can't recall anything he did well), Mettam (couldn't find the net), Hughes (not good enough asa play maker), Joachim (prima dona), Sands (yes, no, gone), Robbins (too damned volatile to fit in - another yes, no, gone), Holt (yes, yes, gone) Frew (jumped too soon for the ball and missed it) and Simon Clarke (manager  :laughcry: :laughcry: :laughcry:).

Absolutely gutted I canít make it Boxing Day, due to Christmas family commitments 🤦🏼‍♂️

With a slightly depleted squad Iím going with a 2-1 win also, but with visions of being 1,999 attendance due to 720 tickets being sold already online and Boston selling 200 also!

I shall be there and give as many Updates on the LiveFeed as I can without spoiling my enjoyment of the game.

Looking forward to a "Footy-Fix" on Boxing Day.

Hopefully the team have enough in the tank to get a result but, at this point with injuries and a depleted squad, I would accept a Draw.

My prediction is a 2 - 1 Win with 1250 Attendance.

Sat inspection 8.30am to decide if game can go ahead

In some ways I hope Lady Luck is smiling on us and a Postponement happens - gives us more time for the lads to get fit.

Aaron Jones showed a bit of potential in Michael Clunan's role pre-season last season.

General Discussion / Ebbsfleet v King's Lynn Town - FA Trophy
« on: December 17, 2019, 03:12:46 PM »
Read today that Ebbsfleet have a player on loan from AFC Bournemouth, Tyler Cordner who apparently made an impact as Ebbsfleet progressed to the FA Trophy second round after a 2-0 win away at Enfield.

From Ebbs website Tyler Cordner (21) An assured loan signing from AFC Bournemouth on a six-month deal, the 21-year-old was awarded his first professional contract by the Premier League club in 2017 and turned in a string of impressive performances on loan with Havant & Waterlooville last season. Formerly with Portsmouth before going on to play for Bournemouthís U21s, the highly rated Southampton-born central defenderís maturity belies his age. He had a number of EFL clubs scouting him and having been on the Fleetís radar all summer, he joined his former Cherries colleague Jordan Holmes at the Fleet in late August 2019.

Also other players have had League football experience; No9 Gozie Ugwu (Chesterfield, Yeovil, Plymouth and Shrewsbury) and 8goals this season - No11 Myles Weston (Wycombe, Brentford, Notts C and Gillingham 7goals - No12 Josh Umerah (Charlton, Kilmarnock and Wycombe) 4goals and another Central Defender No5 Ayo Obileye (Dag & Red, Sheffield Wed and Charlton) 3goals.

Obviously a league higher than Lynn and should be more experienced. But the are beatable as they are not having the best season.

General Discussion / Re: King's Lynn v Dover Athletic Highlights
« on: December 16, 2019, 11:03:42 AM »
Just watched the Highlights and what a performance - wish I could have been there instead of in Devon (but family comes first).

The lads were certainly not over-awed. I take it that Michael Gash's "goal" was offside? Sam Kelly showed composure in taking his goal. Aaron Jones' Free Kick looked as if there was a slight deflection off the wall and the defender held his hands to his head as if it was his fault - well struck and goalie was relying on his wall too much.

However, their goalie made several great saves from Rory and Adam. Was Pedro fouled for their 2nd goal?

Adam Marriott might have had 4goals on a normal day at the office for him. I'm sure IC had penalty practice on the agenda during training and it certainly paid off.
