Lovely to see two Lynn Icons involved in the bar launch.
Maybe someone can find "Blaze Away" as background music in the bar.

How about a Compilation:

Another One Bites the Dust
We are the Champions
The Winner Takes it All
I Have a Dream
Walking on Sunshine
(Please Not - Football's Coming Home)

Over to you!

General Discussion / The Friendlies are Over - Now the Season Begins
« on: July 31, 2019, 09:02:13 AM »
Last night saw the last of the Friendlies with a 3-3 Draw against a useful Charlton Under 23's.

Lynn went 2 - 0 down in 4minutes with a penalty and being cut wide open by some very fast passes and a non-existent defence.

The Team took some time to settle down and then started to pass the ball around and gain some composure. I feel that Charlton sat back to soak up some pressure to give their defence and midfield something to do. It was good for us as well to be able to work some good moves together. Crosses and free kicks got the ball into the area but nothing until Clunan fouled and Kelly slotted home a penalty. Hawkins then smashed home a cross from our young 17year old No2 (??) who had a good game.

 2 - 2 at halftime.

Mass changes for the 2nd half with Marriott, Henderson, Jarvis, McAuley, Jones and others coming on. We used both wide players to good effect and our No4 made some good attack link ups with Hendo and McAuley (who was giving instructions, encouragement and praise - lovely to see and hear! - to No4 (???).

It went a bit flat for periods as the "new" team settled in but Lynn continued to build attacks and the defence line was better maintained by Rory McAuley et al.

Charleton were organised and slick but we tackled well. A great cross from the left was met by Aaron Jones bullet of a header and Lynn were 3 - 1 up.

The gears were moved up by Charleton and attacks came thick and fast. Michael Gash missed a sitter going just wide of post. A couple of "Handbags" occurred but overall Ref handled the game well. Finally Charlie Congreve (Pedro subbed about 20mins into 2nd half) was beaten by a tight angle bullet shot from 10yards on the left.

Final Score 3 - 3 - A fair result and a good work out for both teams.

With some great players in the Squad for this season I can see at least 2 x Out on Loan. (Harry Limb and Nathan Stewart again?)

Nearly all the positions are up for grabs with 2 or more players vying for each slot.

Back 4 from Fryatt, McAuley, Smith, Fox, Barrows, Carey and Jones.

Midfield from Clunan, Jarvis, Jones (again), Henderson, Kelly, Richards, Hawkins.

Strikers from Gash, Marriott, Hawkins (again), Henderson (again), Richards (again).

Spoilt for choice but my Dream Team to start:

Street,
Jones (Wingback), Fryatt, Smith, McAuley, Fox (Wingback)
Clunan, Henderson, Kelly
Gash, Marriott

Subs: Hawkins, Barrows, Richards, Carey, Jarvis

Carey in defence??!!  :laughcry:

Paul47 - From the Team Pen Pictures:

Had to amend as I had "Loaned out Stewart" and put him in the Subs - and left out Jordan Richards.

General Discussion / Re: Next season's squad ?

After the 1st game against Guisley we have two Home games against "Old Foes" Kettering and Hereford.

It would be great to give Kettering a real bashing and this may be a possibility as I hear they have lost a few key players.

Hereford also need reminding that we can give them a bloody nose. Putting Toby Hilliard on the bench for Hereford would give them something to think about after his goals against them.

Thanks for clearing that up Mark.

Stamford’s New ground does look impressive.   Seems the in-vogue thing to do, move grounds.   Boston Utd will see their last season at York Street before they move out of the Town to Wyberton on the A16.   Sad to see these old traditional grounds turned into housing.

Several Teams have made the move - classically St. Johnstone out of Perth centre to the outskirts into a purpose built 10,000 seat stadium. This was done by exchanging their in-town site with a national supermarket chain (not sure which one). back in the 80's.

How did Tom Siddons perform for Stamford? Really sorry to see him go as he had so much potential but little game time.

Defence in depth. The midfield is the key. 343 or 442.

I think if we could play one of the more fancied clubs, that have had a lot of ins and outs pre season and probably away. I feel the settled nature of the Lynn squad could be a big advantage in the opening few games. We could get 3 points early doors that might be more difficult to achieve later on.

Agreed KES80.
