General Discussion / Re: York

IC might well tinker with things as the season progresses but canít see him changing his MO on the way he wants to his team to play.
Iím loving the way we play, breath of fresh air. For sure we can improve, that may come with different bodies coming in and IC improving what we have.

Agreed Mallard, we play some very attractive and entertaining football and don't sit back and wait for the other team to take the initiative. Attack is the best form of Defence.

Bonus is Rory McAuley serving his 3rd Match Suspension so will be OK for York.

I am going all out and expect a 4-0 win with Attendance of 945.

Start with an All Out Attack and then sub a few for York on Saturday.

Income from all league games, FA Cup runs, FA Trophy (?), League Cup and Friendlies combined with profits from various enterprises (refreshments, 50/50, programmes etc.) comes to ......... X.

We can never be sure what X will be, until the last game of the season and stock-check is done. We will now have Y.

How close to the expected X is Y?

Lots of factors and variables will affect X or Y. Good Gates, Bad Gates, Good Cup runs, Bad Cup Runs, Grissles in the Bar, Grissles not in the Bar  :laughcry:

I think IC may opt for a back 3 even without Ross being absent - Alfreton's front two caused problems in the home fixture and we did swap in the 2nd half albeit briefly as we then went down to 10 men.  As well as strengthening the midfield hopefully it should give a few more options as I thought we didn't move the ball quickly enough at the weekend vs Gloucester.  So my team would be:

Fryatt, Jones, Smith
Clunan, Carey, Jarvis, Kelly, Fox
Marriott, Gash

Happy that you could bring in Burrows if Clunan or Jarvis needed a rest and possibly Payne for Fox.  Still think letting Toby go to Dereham was a mistake as there isn't much option up front, not that he is in anyway a like for like replacement for Gash (particularly in the form he is in) but he would be a more viable option than anything else we have in the squad.

I would go for a 4 - 4 - 2 dropping Fox or Jarvis back to allow either Fox or Jones to venture forward as the situation allows. Keeping Barrows and Henderson as prime subs makes sense. Also got Richards, Stewart and Payne staying fresh for York.

As Posted on another Thread:

Defence:  Rory McAuley 1 x Red + 2 x Yellows  - Ryan Fryatt 1 x Y - Nathan Fox 1 x Y  - Jones 2 x Y

Midfield:  Michael Clunan 2 x Y -  Sam Kelly 1 x Y - Chris Henderson 1 x Y

Strikers:  Michael Gash 2 x Y - Adam Marriott 1 x Y

We could do with "protecting" Jones, Clunan and Gash from FA Cup Yellows/Reds and keep them fresh and available for League Games.

Dilly I donít disagree with you about Carey but I donít see him getting too many starts in the few months ( unless injuries dictate) so can see benefit in letting him go out and get some game time rather than getting splinters in his derriŤre with odd 10-15 minutes here and there.  We do seem to be on overloads with midfield players  ( Payne, Clunan, Jarv, Kelly, Hendo, Richards and Carey), yet only have the 2 main strikers.  Maybe a little shuffle around is needed.

Hendo is our Utility Player for Midfield and Striker, Jarvis is a Midfield but can step back into Defence, Kelly is naturally a Left Midfield/Winger but Fox is a Left Wing/Back.

Aaron Jones is also capable of Right Wing/Back and Midfield "General" in place of Clunan. Payne is Midfield/Attack alongside Hendo and Richards. Stewart can also come on as Midfield/Midfield-Attack with Barrows as Right Back (possibly Wing Back - allowing Jones to move into Clunan role)

McAuley is the lynchpin of the Defence and sorely missed on Saturday.

Chris Smith is fine as Centre Back alongside McAuley and Fryatt - releasing Jones, Fox on Wings and Jarvis back into Midfield alongside Clunan/Jones. Gash and Marriott as main Strikers with Hendo/Richards/Stewart supporting as Midfield/Attack.

My preferred Team:

Jones/Barrows - Fryatt - Smith - McAuley - Fox

Clunan/Jones - Jarvis/Stewart

Henderson/Kelly - Payne/Richards

Gash - Marriott/Henderson
