General Discussion / King's Lynn Town FC v Weymouth Town
« on: January 31, 2022, 04:37:58 PM »
A real "6 pointer" this Saturday.

To keep any chance of a "Great Escape" alive, we needs to beat Weymouth with a decent performance by all the players.

I hope Connor Kurran-Browne gets a start alongside Joss Barrett and Ken Charles.

What this Club needs is less fans calling the team players s**t  :banghead;

Woking game called off due to waterlogged pitch and weather forecast not brilliant over the next few days.

What are the chances of the Notts County (rearranged) game on Tuesday evening going ahead? Mind you they will have all day to get the mops, buckets and brushes working.

Hopefully this game will go ahead bearing the forecast of more rain on Saturday morning. Thankfully there appears the predicted frost did not be severe (or happen?).

Let's be positive and look forward to a Home Win and a vital 3points. Still a few key players out with injuries but on the road to recovery, according to manager Tommy Widdrington.

I, for one, have been missing my live footy-fix and can see a hard fought game ahead of us which I predict a 2-1 win for the Linnets.

King's Lynn not having a Fan Base large enough to support a team in the National League?

Location, Location, Location.

Lynn has no dense population in its 25mile zone of influence. When we have had large crowds it's mainly due to opposition fans or TV coverage. A "Songs of Praise" moment where the church is packed by all hoping to be shown attending.

A much better all-round performance by the Team. Barrett plays with audacity, exhibiting amazing skills that others could never even dream of doing. Aerial gymnastics coupled with confidence in holding off his shot where others would shoot and hope.

Michael Gyasi worked hard and caused Nantwich's defence a lot of trouble and his run into the Box resulted in being fouled and won the Penalty. I have always advocated taking the ball into the box as it may result in a goal, penalty or ....... nothing. Two out of three can't be bad.

We need to see more of Connor Kurran-Browne as he is only with us for a month on-loan from my favourite team, AFC Bouremouth.

Halifax sitting in 5th position and looking good for Play Off's.

Can we see Lynn coming Home with 1Point  :dontknow:  or even 3Points   :dontknow: :dontknow:

As long as they put a good shift in and don't get thrashed I will be content.

Attendance was 1 Down as I was away in Cornwall. However, as a Season Ticket Holder they still got their money.

It seems one poster is using this forum as an axe grinder, for whatever reason. Lets keep it positive. :scarf:

I tend to "Skip" past that person's Posts. I can understand their attitude as I have had similar treatment from a previous employer - however, bring up the bile just leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

I appreciate that Junior Morias  plays with passion and tries to motivate those around him. However, to my mind he is supposed to be a Striker. He spends to much time playing and looking for the ball in midfield rather than being up front looking for players to play the ball into areas for him to pounce and strike. Gold Omatayo plays to far forward to be a target man heading the ball further upfield. He's so far forward that there is no one further up to chase his head-ons. Wasted effort to head on to opposition goalie/defenders.

I was impressed by Aaron Jones when he was A Trialist prior to joining Lynn. He came on and did a good Midfield General alongside Michael Clunan. I know his position is Right Wing Back but we have Ross Barrows to fill that role. Stick Jones in where Ryan Jarvis used to play, and that IMO would strengthen our midfield/advance defence line.

My old chestnut: Man backing up on the opposite side, waiting for the overhit cross/ball squirting out from the box. Recycling the attack rather than opposition gaining unnecessary possession and attack on the break.

We seem to fall for goals scored on the break. Should we try the defend and attack on the break strategy. Seems to work for other teams.

And from Saturday, where's Devonshire?   :dontknow:

Alan ?   Ex West Ham.

The term "Devon" is normally used for everyday purposes, e.g. "Devon County Council" but "Devonshire" continues to be used in the names of the "Devonshire and Dorset Regiment" (until 2007) and "The Devonshire Association". One erroneous theory is that the "shire" suffix is due to a mistake in the making of the original letters patent for the Duke of Devonshire, resident in Derbyshire. However, there are references to "Defenascire" in Anglo-Saxon texts from before 1000 AD (this would mean "Shire of the Devonians"),[8] which translates to modern English as "Devonshire". The term Devonshire may have originated around the 8th century, when it changed from Dumnonia (Latin) to Defenascir.

Seems KLTFC are above average for the Premier League with 45% not having had a single dose

name and shame them

Hopefully this remark is "tounge in cheek"  :dontknow: Just because someone has not had a voluntary vaccination is no reason to vilify them - it's a personal choice, not a legal requirement. I have had my 2 Jabs and will take the booster.

Mostly good news.

Everyone gets a bonus except the poor old Season Ticket holder who coughed up their money up front, only to see prices reduced.

2nd Season in a row the Season Ticket holders have dipped out. OK, last year was circumstances beyond anyone's control and we could get Home matches "free" on the Streaming.

Various incentives such as 50p off a pint before 2pm. Could the Club give Season Ticket holders a 50p off a pint or a Coffee?

General Discussion / Re: Wealdstone

At the risk of repeating myself - When are we going to have a player on the far side to collect the long ball, overhit ball, rebound out from the box etc. etc.  :dontknow:

We have a good 1/2 a dozen such happenings today and not one collected and recycled back into the attack.

We spent a lot of time building from the back, going across the pitch then back a few yards. Time wasted and the Wealdstone defence had time to reorganise the depth of their defence.
