General Discussion / Re: strike while the iron is hot
« on: October 22, 2016, 11:57:28 AM »
We need that midfield general - Michael Clunan is a talented player with vision and skills but he is not a "hold up and check" type. Sam G has done well in that role and we now have a good line up at the back when Matty C returns (Ryan Fryatt Matty C Jordan Yong and Dan Emmington).

Thanks, Mallard. I'll look out for it - he was dynamite in front of goal and served well by Phil Bowyer.

Did Bournemouth not get decent money for a few of them. Remember Fred Davies the goalkeeping coach coming with him, Machin, Benson, Boyer, Powell not sure about half a team though

Figure of speech, Mallard! As a Bournemouth fan of many years I was not impressed!

I remember when John Bond left AFC Bournemouth and took half the team with him to Norwich - B*****d.

General Discussion / Re: King's Lynn Town v Hayes & Yeading United
« on: October 15, 2016, 11:21:24 PM »
There were signs today that several pre-planned moves had been rehearsed at training. A much better performance by the team in the first half. Hayes started the second half much better and put us under a lot of pressure and scored twice. The lads buckled up and played well, always threatening to score but could only do so once to achieve a draw - it could have been worse and all three points lost.

I was impressed by Leon Mettam's work rate today, tracking back and helping the midfield/defence to get the second ball at tackles then race up-field to rejoin the attack. Kurtis Reven had a great game on the rightb wing and chased everything in range. Jacek Zielonka also proved a hand-full on the left and centre alongside Mettam. Stevo bossed the midfield behind Leon and Quiggs had a decent game. You would really have to be picky to slate anyone today, they all put a shift in. It got a bit ragged for 20mins at the start of the second half - conceding two goals. However, the lads re-grouped and piled the pressure back on and were unlucky not to get a cast-iron penalty and win the game. Ref had a decent game and there was no heckling or booing as the three officials left the field.

General Discussion / What's Happening in the Dressing Room?
« on: October 12, 2016, 06:25:42 PM »
In the past there have been rumours of disruptive personalities in the Dressing Room - Danny Gay and last season Kern Miller.

Is someone in there causing problems? Did Neil Fryatt have issues in this department that tipped the balance in his decision to leave.

Leon Mettam does not appear to be a leader - shouts at others a lot but it needs a midfield/full back to general the team, leaving Metts to concentrate on his striker role.

I would try Jacek in the middle alongside Mettam. You might be surprised how it could work.

General Discussion / Re: King's Lynn 1 Cirencester 1 - Setch interview
« on: October 08, 2016, 09:26:33 PM »
An understatement that we didn't get much (decisions) all day. With Matty C out of action Quiggs had to drop back. If Matty had been available that would have allowed us to boss the midfield and break down their attacks. Both full backs were roaming and that cut down the effectiveness of JZ and Kurtis.

Team for mid-week:4-3-3 - Street, McLeish, Gaughran, Yong, Emmington, M Clunan, Mills, Quigley, Zielonka, Mettam, Revan. Subs: Edge, Hilliard, A Clunan, Frohawk, McQuaid.

Allow Yong to roam, Mills to sit in front of backs with Quigs, Clunan midfield and JZ and Revan on wings (staying out wide when ball on opposite wing to gather overhit/rebound) and Mettam striker. Just my thoughts  :dontknow:

General Discussion / Re: Cirencester on Saturday
« on: October 08, 2016, 07:53:35 PM »
At times I thought that both teams were playing Head the Ball Volleyball! Ref seemed to see all the Lynn offences but hardly any of the sly pushes and climbing by Cirencester. Two good penalty appeals (one an absolute certainty) denied. Lino on the Stand side could hardly keep up with play. That said, Lynn players were nearly always second to the ball and the loose ball seemed to go to the opposition. When we played it wider in the second half it looked a bit more promising - Kurtis and Jacek took on the defender and got some crosses in. Finally it paid off and Leon salvaged a point. All in all, taking into account our poor ball control and first half play, we just about deserved a share of the points.

Just to answer my own question - Hayes and Yeading on 18 February at theirs.

Its the last Saturday home game for two or three weeks so lets saviour tomorrows game. I am looking forward to seeing players who have been missing for one reason and another, especially Kurtis the winger.
Cirencester are in the bottom four and will probably come to spoil, but I am hopeful that we can play through that and batter them and win it for young Matty. COYL!

We have now got Hayes and Yeading at The Walks on 15 October due to fixture being swapped as their ground is being used for a Cup match. Suppose our "home " game will be at their's?
