General Discussion / Re: Off field?
« on: June 05, 2025, 12:33:11 PM »
However you choose to arrange the four letters it would be best  to not have them on this Forum. If we are moving towards a more Community based club, where young families can feel comfortable at the ground, then hopefully such language will also be discouraged among the crowd too. There is a need IMO for members of the crowd to “step up” and moderate their behaviour to achieve a welcoming atmosphere at the ground. Hopefully the penny will drop with some over time.

With the greatest respect I think some are missing the point with Gold. Due to his physical presence, people seem to expect an old fashioned English number 9 constantly barging his way through defences. He isn’t that and he was of course born in Switzerland. What he gives you is extra height and defensive capabilities at the back , a target up front and even including last season (where he was injured for part of the season, second choice for much of it and lacked any real service for much of the time) a goal every 2.75 games. So over a course of an average season he will get you 15-20 goals. That’s not a bad return and if JR can find someone else up front to get another 15-20, then Lynn will be in decent shape.

Ps this was written at a similar time to Tony’s excellent post above ,so apologies if any repetition- it will probably appear much later as it requires “moderating”

:scarf: l hope he can motivate and get more from Gold than AL managed otherwise we will have another wasted season bit like JB before he moved.

Really don’t understand that post 465. JB wanted out and almost downed tools to get away. Gold in contrast Gold has stuck around despite negative comments like yours and at the end of last season was the only main goal scorer and a big reason as to why we scraped into the playoffs. He scored as many as Margetts even tho he was second choice when Margetts was fit. I didn’t hear too many slagging Margetts off though. Surely at this time of change in the club it’s a chance for fans to come together and be supportive of the whole squad.

I expect Gold to get 15 plus goals next season if used properly. He’s mobile for a big guy and scores as many with his feet as his head. He scored 20 plus a couple of seasons ago-no reason why he can’t get close to that again.Lakeland never seemed to fancy or understand him. Despite that and injury he was still joint top scorer last season.

General Discussion / Re: New Season
« on: May 19, 2025, 09:54:05 PM »
None of the last few weeks makes any sense it's all very contradictory. There is half a team at the moment no manager no money but new investors an owner who seems to have no responsibility for anything that's happening and a fan base completely in the dark.

Absolutely. No information coming out of the Club, media messages seem to have stopped. Only updates coming from players’ personal accounts.
Throw in the fact that most players and managers worth their salt get sorted by mid June, then have a holiday before starting preseason training so that gives3/4 weeks from now to takeover the club, form a new structure and finances, agree on part time or full time, recruit a manager and at least 10 players……it’s already looking a very tall order and a bit desperate.

I know nothing of what is and has been going on behind the scenes, but am surprised that it has taken as long as 15th May for this meeting to happen. Surely until the ownership side is sorted and a decision is made re full time or part time, then the Manager can't make a decision on whether to stay or go. There also seems little point in having discussions with players until its known whether it's full time or part time and whether AL is still at the helm. Many of the players are AL's pick. Pointless recruiting and then appointing a manager who doesn't fancy some of them. All seems a bit arse about face at the moment

General Discussion / Re: Chester Today
« on: April 27, 2025, 05:34:33 PM »
It wasn’t Northern grit that beat us today. It was proper football by a team with all the players while we had none. Chester were excellent. They played nippy skilful football throughout.  The first half looked like Barcelona versus Scunthorpe Muckworks. Haven’t been for a long while, but I thought Crane looked a player, but virtually no one else.  Crowe and Sass can have another go, but we need a large influx of players, found by a manager who knows that skill and slickness will beat kick and head volleyball every day of the week!  Good luck vs Chorley, but we’ll have park the bus and sneak a couple of hooligans on as well and hope for a breakaway and a 90 degree deflection off of a defenders backside for a winner….  But COYL!!!

 :laughcry: :laughcry: :laughcry:

Thank you Dilly your post made me smile, laugh out loud and nod my head in agreement......and as you say.....COYL

Well done to AL and the team for getting to the playoffs.

Listening to the post match interviews though , I am left a little bemused.

Two seasons ago:

Lynn's record at home ....won 17 drew 3 lost 3..........(in response to The Walks being not an easy place to play and where fans often don't get behind the team enough....appears much has changed in 2 years)

Gold scored over 20 goals     (in response to neither Gold or Jonny being 20 goal a season players at this level...whereas other top teams have someone who gets 20 plus a season)

Chorley finished 12th and Lynn second on 93 points. (In response to Chorley are always in playoffs and Lynn need to get to that point)

Lynn's last few seasons....6th in NLN
                                     Struggled in NLN
                                      2nd in NLN
                                     National League
                                     National League
                                     Won NLN

Would have thought that compares favourably with the likes of Chorley.

Too attack minded

I think it's 47 league goals scored by the team so far this season. I believe it was 54 in total last season.

Hopefully by Saturday at 5pm the difference will be significantly less.

Positive at least that communication lines are open and thanks for putting it on here in true Trust/transparency values.

Sounds like with any significant transaction, full details, careful consideration and dare I use an overused term by football managers....due diligence will be required in this vital matter.

Good time to score I guess...goals are certainly in short supply and being shared around the whole squad when they do come.

Hopefully people can see the suggestion of people coming together with ideas of what they want from the club in order to continue attending matches (and potentially discussing them with the owner ) as a positive not a subversive idea.

People seem to be slowly drifting away in significant numbers for various reasons and the owner doesn't seem to understand why

Just read your most recent, kind and illuminating post Tony....many thanks for that.

It just feels like there needs to be a seismic shift for the club to get to where many would like it to be.

Yes ok B& G and Tony probably fair enough looking at the posts.....apologies probably due....the frustration of the whole situation obviously is getting to me......the suggestion/gist behind the posts was meant to be

Don't moan as individuals and expect things to change, if you feel that strongly then consider.acting  as a community rather than individuals, come up with some requirements necessary for you as a community to continue to support the club, put them to the owner and if they are not met then don't attend.

I had hoped that that had come over in the posts

You both seem to denounce the idea of group action..but isn't that what a Community run club is all about.

The action doesn't need to be an immediate boycott of games, but perhaps a statement with signatures requesting information/meeting in return for continued support. I wouldn't have thought that unreasonable. Surely supporters have the right to know what it is they are actually supporting

Pink, I think we probably have a different understanding of community run club (which as B&G has said isn't applicable to KLTFC at present anyway).  To me, a community run club would engage with it's fanbase, sharing what information it could at an appropriate level and on a regular basis allowing for the fact that some information wouldn't be appropriate to share either due to it's commercially sensitive nature or for confidentially reasons for example.  If a community run club was receiving petitions of the manner you are suggesting then I would say it has got a long way off course or needed to work much harder to explain to it's remit to stakeholders.

Tony, I think you have missed my point completely. The club isn't community based at the moment...we all know that......I don't need you and B&G to tell me that.......but in order to change things for the better, I was just suggesting that some group activity with people coming together might be a positive way of the town coming together to give some idea of how they might like the club run, instead of individuals just bemoaning the fact that they are treated like customers and not fans. If the club was community based this issue or situation would hopefully never arise.

I think our idea of Community based is the same.......maybe you just hope that it will happen sometime in the future, somehow.......with that stance I personally doubt it ever will
