Yes, I can see that, but if you over use your best players they will pick up knocks and then you're looking at shelling out money for replacements that negates any benefits of a cup run

From the post match interview it appears AL will go with a "full strength" team against Cheshunt. I guess that's the norm, with managers always feeling under pressure to get a result. There must be an argument given how tough the NLN is for giving some a rest and also giving those waiting in the wings some match time. If the players are good enough to be in a step2 squad I would have thought they should be good enough to take the field against step 3 opposition: Boyes, Isaacson, Rowan, Coulson, Wilson, Walker, Hughes, Whiteley, Barnes, Cybulski,Omotayo sounds a decent eleven to me Ps my surname isn't Wenger

I never listen to Radio Norfolk, as I enjoy other commentaries far more.

Gold is just not good enough
Obviously entitled to your opinion as is everyone . I am interested to know what you base your comments on , as a basis for a healthy good natured debate. Gold seems to get a lot of knockers, but he scored 3 in the first few games and has been used very sparingly since. AL has admitted he is still learning how to get the best out of him and all the new players will be learning each others strengths and weaknesses. He scored over 20 in the last season he was at this level. If used in the right way and consistently he will be an asset I believe. It will be interesting to see how the team plays now if Margetts is out for a few weeks. It seems to me that there is currently an over reliance on Margetts to score.

How many genuine attempts on goal did Lynn have today ?
It sounds like if Lynn concede first then they are in trouble....because sides will sit behind the ball , slow the game down and the ref is unlikely to be good enough to do anything about it. Given Lynn are full time, one might hope over the course of the next 6 weeks they might come up with a suitable way to deal with this situation, as they are likely to concede first again before too long..........most teams do every so often.

Need more from all these attacking midfielders in terms of bulging the net. You look at the goals scored and I think I am correct in saying 7 from Gold and Jonny, one each from Tommy Hughes and the Assistant Manager and that's about it. Hopefully the two Josh's will grow into it, but it's a different game when the expectation is there..... probably a good deal more expectation that at Sports or Southport, with the greatest respect to those two clubs. Some of the squad are probably on a steep learning curve in terms of what is consistently required to remain in contention

Thanks WLM but seems strange that Clubs under the same umbrella are playing to different rules. Maybe some Clubs don’t have big enough dugouts to hold 7 subs plus all the backroom staff they seem to have these day
Also differences re suspensions as mentioned above. Who would want to be a football club secretary these days !!! It appears only competition where suspensions remain within the competition, as it were is the EFL Cup.

Page 10 of Essential Information For Players - 2024-25 - found on
https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/discipline/player-essentials Would suggest he is suspended for the FA Cup game
Thanks for providing that Nemesis-what a complex set of rules -different for National League to NLN it appears ...but yes after reading that I agree with your conclusion....I think ha ha

Very surprised to see us in the southern section of the draw. But not complaining.
Think that was the case last year too. It used to be that we would play Alfreton 3/4 times a season....and that's not great for any team

I believe that as the Cup is a different competition to the league it will mean that Cody can play against Cheshunt but is then suspended for Hereford.

Really good solid point that. Great to see such a positive mind set around the club. Very positive starting eleven and positive move to put a second forward on when down to ten men...onwards and upwards!

Sadly, Gt Yarmouth and Sheringham were both knocked out last round.I believe Grantham are in today's draw. Presumably a home draw against lesser opposition would be preferred. An opportunity to try out different permutations or a Saturday off for some while Fringe players are given a run out, depending on your point of view I guess.

Certainly a different line up with No out and big one up top. Looks like AL has another string to his bow in only going with 1 strikers but plenty of young legs in support.
Excellent 3 points on the Road. I see our next opponents got beat at home today. Never know if that’s a good or bad thing.
I seem to recall that it's usually very windy there....have they still got moveable goals ?
