General Discussion / Re: What’s going on ?« on: December 02, 2024, 04:52:20 PM »Apathy, there are too many other “attractions” Too much football on television with a Saturday lunchtime game. The “ younger ones” often have no appetite for physical sport preferring to tap their fingers at home. Look at the local football leagues and there are not anywhere near the same number of teams as there was in the 70’s. Where wives and children used to come they don’t because they or their spouses don’t want them subjected to the abuse spouted by ill mannered supporters As has been mentioned before there has been no ground improvements to attract more supporters. Although it is not as expensive as going to a league game it’s still expensive if you add other costs if coming in from outreaching towns and villages. Then there is the attraction of Heacham, Downham, Swaffham and Fakenham football to compete with.( I have no idea of the costs but it may be more convenient and offer a reasonable afternoon’s entertainment People are more home orientated.etc.etc 3

It’s interesting reviewing the comments posted after SC’s comments on Linked in.
The main item that concerns me is he has made no comment (as usual) and are we heading to a new crisis point or has Joe and he started a plan to move the club forward? 4

I did the maths when SC announced we were going full time and reckoned we needed 2,300 through the turnstile. I think the FA cup game against Stevenage, Grimsby and Boston ? Maybe the only games that satisfied that criterion.

Logically with the current attendance Step4 is probably our level. 6

Perhaps the awaited Football Governance Bill has made SC think that the club needs to be managed differently. This will appease some supporters however there are some deluded ones who think that it can be run by a supporters trust without a large financial input.

It clearly states invites to input cash or take over and he still wants to be involved. Obviously he needs more backers but this is not a panic notice yet.

At last Kitty has hit the nail on the head. We are swimming like goldfish in a bowl of sharks and ambition has overtaken reality. In all truths relegation may have been our saviour instead of becoming debt ridden and requiring bailing out by “Joe”.
Supporter numbers are not good enough for this league to support the continued playing at this level. There are several other teams at this level who’s support is on a par or worse than KL, how long can they continue? 9

Kings Lynn 3 Aldershot 1 when they were in the league, think it was in the late 50’s. Made national paper headlines. Great atmosphere stood behind the goal Tennyson Ave end.

Glad the young man is progressing and still scoring. Yes we had a chance to have him now apparently lost Who was the manager when he trialed think it was the bungling Hughes is it his fault ? Was there no thought or conversation re offer of a trainee contract to let him develop under our wings our was he just shown the door. None of us will probably ever know unless FT tells. It’s part and parcel of football that a player slips the net then develops into an outstanding player . I can think of one who played at the walks for the opposition and is still scoring in the Premiership and recently England.

It would seem that prices for admission as are cheaper in Germany, however do the clubs pay lower wages are they well sponsored compare to the uk how many full time professional leagues are there. etc.
As for KL is the chairman’s dream for league football a pipe dream. Apart from the mysterious Joe and 1or 2 other sponsors the club don’t seem ambitious to increase takings.Yet the wage bill must be astronomical I can remember KLFC in the late 50’s running a lottery with local stores selling tickets. Speaking to someone who went to Worksop their ground set up for supporters was on a different scale to ours re the shop etc. At last after seeing Robbie’s email it seems that maybe things are changing for the better |
