General Discussion / Re: Woeful Linnets fall out of play off places.
« on: March 21, 2025, 06:24:53 PM »
Glad I was away on holiday.
Is the club going to be here next season with rumours re Joe and costs. Is Sc jumping ship as he is running out of cash?
Without serious backers and crowds of 800 we cannot afford FT football.
if PT next season where are we getting these wonderful local players everyone keeps going on about.
Will AL and et al go?
If so who will come to manage the mess left?
Step forward an oracle cos I can’t see this carrying on.

:scarf: Now that was a game of football both teams playing fast and hard neither giving the other many chances. No it wasn’t a Kidderminster type of game but it kept you on the edge, could we hold on, could we sneak a goal or would they score?

:scarf: Let’s get behind the team this week plenty of supporters making the walks reverberating cheering the boys on   Its been to quiet this season.
Am I too hopeful!

:comeon: Was Gold SC’ s influence when signing. Think most sighed with a not again after reading the news. Still think we should move the training centre closer to Manchester and sign players who will treat KL as an away game. We are too far south for a northern league and any “local” players would probably prefer the option of playing in the northern leagues counterpart.

:scarf: Commentators keep going on about local players just how local is local. A L is correct KL as a town is off the beaten track with poor link roads and culturally when compared to other places. We would do better with a northern or northern midland training area with players from that area who treat KL as an away game considering the balance of where the opposition play in this league. If I remember correctly we had a midlands based manage who ran a good team until the club went bust

:scarf: Here we go again more backbiting and moaning. He did this he did that, etc. Its  no wonder the club is disjointed. Surely the most important thing is however we pay we are supporting the club somehow.

:scarf: First half was dismal they overran us as we were slow and ponderous. We did create the best chances when we moved the ball quickly on the turf and could have stolen it which would have been a robbery for the visitors. Only 801 spectators not unexpected after nearly 400 went to Peterborough and left very dissatisfied with the performance.
There are a few who imho aren’t up to the standard required

:laughcry: Football language I don’t think so. You only have to walk around and hear  the standard of language being spoken these days as you go around town etc.

:scarf: Overheard a conversation and Gold has a leg injury out for? 2 weeks. No wonder we are looking at more strikers there haven’t been many games this season when they have both been fit or selected.

:scarf: Agree with the above final sentiment. I reckon nearly half the regular die hards are all pensioners. If we don’t encourage the youngsters the club will only go backwards.

Despite the misgivings of those who aren’t realists the players bought in have strengthened the side and as such the club are in a much better place than last season. Rome was not built in a day and the new manager has turned a relic team into one that is doing quite well. I can’t remember promises of promotion being made!
I would expect to see more progress during the season and close season to beef the team up for a big push next year.

Young Cody is a short gap replacement whether now or at the end of the season, either way it’s not the way to build and develop the team. Even though at this stage he’s my player of the year.
