General Discussion / Survival
« on: February 04, 2024, 10:36:28 PM »
So we got that vital 3 points win at last! I wasn’t there so could not possibly comment on the merits of our play but thank goodness we now have a fresh start to see if we can put a winning run together. Lots of draws and the odd loss will no longer suffice if we want to stay in the NLN. Looking at the remaining fixtures ( only 14 remain) and realising we need at least 50 points to be sure of survival, I’ve had a stab at seeing where those points might come from, trying to be realistic and not too optimistic. So here goes and you can tear this apart at your will ( as I know you will any way)!
                             Pts
          Alfreton A Dr   1
         Brackley A Lose 0
         Farsley C H Win 3
         S Shields H Dr.  1
         Blyth Sp. A Dr   1
         Bishops S A Win 3
         Rushall O H Win 3
        Tamworth. H Lose 0
        Scunthorpe A lose 0
        ScarboroughH Dr 1
         Banbury.     A Dr 1
         Peterb Sp.   H Dr 1
         SpennymoorA Dr 1
         Chorley.     H Lose 0

                           Total 16 added to 32 we have = 48 (probably 2 pts short).  Winning 3 Drawing 7 Losing 4

This also assumes Margetts plays every game and scores at least seven

What do you think? - Don’t have sleepless nights-I’m hopefully wrong anyway.

General Discussion / Manager has definitely lost the plot
« on: January 27, 2024, 11:13:39 PM »
Following Tuesday nights match I thought the Manager may have lost the plot - not because of the result but because  of the total apparent lack of any cohesion in the team. After today I know he has the plot big time. Following JB’s departure we were left with just two playmakers in the squad, Hughes and Rogers. Today I was astonished when the teams were read out and neither were in the starting eleven. Both sitting on the bench at a time when we need playmakers to create the chances.
Having let that sink in I then thought the announcer must have got it wrong when Margret was announced as being among the substitutes. What were the loyal Lynn fans to think? The pitifully low crowd from Tuesday’s game could be forgiven for thinking maybe our Star goal - a - game striker was just a victim of getting no supply from his Hoof it! Headless chicken team mates and they would see the real thing today?.Not a bit of it, he was well and truly benched for not being a Hoofit! Player. So the wages saved from flogging Crowther are then spent on a goal a game striker (because we need goals) who sits on the bench to watch a goal less draw - you couldn’t make this up.
On my way home it suddenly dawned on me! Although most right thinking Lynn fans would expect us to go for 3 points today and play our Star studded new striker, our manager probably  was thinking it’s self preservation time - I can’t afford to lose this match, so we will go defensive and that’s why we were again treated to watching paint dry football. We already knew our great leader had lost the plot but now his manager has too. By the way, the plot is to score goals in order to collect enough points to finish higher than 4th from bottom. In order to achieve this simple aim (made to sound difficult by coaches) we need at least one playmaker and a goal scorer. I wonder who the may be?

Keep the faith - COYHeadless chickens!

General Discussion / Hughes next to go?
« on: January 25, 2024, 11:06:46 AM »
Tommy played well at Hereford, “putting in a shift “ whilst also scoring a vital goal. His reward? A place on the bench whist the headless chickens chased around like characters from a Monty Python sketch.

If Hughes is not good enough to come off the bench in a 4 nil drubbing he is yet another skilful playmaker surplus to requirements.

Come on you headless chickens, Keep the faith!

22 points required to stay up. Only one win in last ten matches, Two wins required next two matches at the walks? No problem with  Margetts in the team? It’s Alex Ferguson time! coyl.

General Discussion / Buxton win at Chester
« on: January 16, 2024, 11:09:25 PM »
Buxton’s win at Chester tonight shows how disastrous our dropping of two points was at the Silverlands last Saturday.

Stephens had no need to make that tackle, giving AL a tactical headache at half time.

The Linnets outstanding player in the first half was Rogers, easily the most creative player on the field.

So what does AL do? Takes Rogers off and Buxton’s manager can’t believe his luck. Into the second half and we take

Hughes off ,leaving no creative playmakers on the pitch. Predictably we surrender mid field and it's like the battle of

the Alamo. Two goals conceded and almost a third in the last minute.

We will be relegated if we don’t keep skilful playmakers on the pitch and we still desperately need a striker.

The discarding of skilful players is becoming a trend with AL. This is worrying because without playmakers we will be

relegated. Nice to praise the 100% runners but look how many points we’ve dropped with a team full of runners and

no playmakers. Could it be that the differences between AL and JB will ultimately get us relegated? Surely not? :banghead;
Stop acting like kids and sort it out like grown men. Time to put the team first!

General Discussion / Fire Sale - Something isn't right !
« on: January 08, 2024, 08:22:32 PM »
If the future of the club is secured, why in god's name have we sold the best young defender we have had in years!

Adam Crowther's transfer value (even at non league level) was MUCH more than £35,000. THIS WAS A FIRE SALE PRICE BY A WORRIED MAN.

Where are we going to find another class defender at NLN standard anywhere near as good?

Just sell Barrett now and Mr Cleeve could have the distinction of being the first Chairman to take a full time professional club down to the Northern /Southern Premier League

AL has clearly worked very hard since becoming our new manager. We are being treated to a brand of football never before seen at the Walks. Grown men (and boys) running around at break neck

speed, firstly booting the ball into the air, then running after it, trying to get it back again, when they're successful they boot it in the air again and chase it again. Repeat, repeat repeat, repeat for

an entire match. This brand of football does require players who will give 100% for 95 minutes behaving like headless chickens. Unfortunately there is no room for skilful players like Barrett and

Hughes in these teams, who may not run around huffing and puffing to impress the management duo but who will put their foot on the ball and play an occasional defence splitting pass for a team

mate to run on to and score, sometimes more than once in one match. Many supporters can't understand why our full time team are no fitter after ninety minutes than part timers. Darlington

didn't run around like a bunch of kids and had a skilful player to play the through ball and a striker who finished like Marriot used to do.

It's a dour brand of football and attendances will fall accordingly. By the way was anyone impressed with the two new chickens making their debut? I think we have better in the award winning

Academy, but they won't be considered as thy play good football on the floor.

General Discussion / Blue and Gold Supporters' Trust
« on: January 04, 2024, 08:54:16 PM »
Could someone please enlighten me on where the Trust stands in all this?

Are they raising money to bolster their coffers in the very likely event of the town needing to start yet another reincarnation? Would a recruitment drive for new members be in order?

500 new members donating £50 apiece would bring in £25000 to get things started - I for one would be up for it. Having given hard-earned cash to the club at every begging bowl request I am no longer prepared to do so until the owner shuts the door behind him and hands the keys of our beautiful non-league ground back to the Council. Peter has cried wolf too many times. A donation now to the B&G Trust will help for the future of a more United club - Kings Lynn United? A donation to the current regime will just serve to prolong the agony.

General Discussion / LYNNPLAY COVERAGE?
« on: November 22, 2023, 08:58:30 PM »
So no interview from our fulltime management team after Scarborough debacle? We might get the goal highlights (or lowlights) from Scarborough eventually but not from Lynn - because we lost.

The club may be full time but it seems less than professionally run at the moment.

No comments on here about how we played at Scarborough, I've never known such a mood of general malaise across the club, including supporters.

General Discussion / Full time players? You're Joking!
« on: November 21, 2023, 09:56:05 PM »
Make that 2 more goals from the right full back position. It's now embarrassing. We beat full time Scunny and then lose to two very ordinary semi pro teams. Time to dig deep and borrow some more wonga. :nilpoints:

General Discussion / Poor defending
« on: November 21, 2023, 08:45:43 PM »
Yet another goal conceded from poor defending in the right back position. Either we don't have another right footed defender in the club or AL doesn't see it. Stephens and Smith have gone missing
for long periods again. Lets hope our full time players show stronger fitness second half.

General Discussion / Financial Madness
« on: November 13, 2023, 09:06:06 PM »
Full time payment at this level is financial madness. Lots of overnight stays at this level are financial madness. Facilities for full time training at this level are financial madness. Admission prices at this level are financial madness. Where is this financial madness leading to? £1,000,000 debt and rising? :bankrupt:
