What A Game And What A Performance.
« on: January 25, 2017, 03:04:41 AM »
Now that's the King's Lynn Team showing what they are capable of from the first minute to the last they pressured the ball and gave Merthyr no time to settle and pass the ball about and apart from switching of after scoring we bossed the game. Both keepers where kept busy and Alex was back to his best pulling of some world class saves every single one put in a shift yes their was a couple of mistakes but unlike Saturday each player was covering each overs back.

My Ratings from 1-10

Alex Street- 10
Jordon Yong- 8
Tom Ward- 9
Sam Gaughan- 9
Ryan Fryatt- 8
Sam Warburton- 8
Dan Quiqley- 9
Michael Clunan- 10
Stevo- 10
Toby Hilliard- 10
Ryan Hawkins- 7 needs to stop being scared of the ball and pressure more. 7 of us their and we was heard more than the Merthyr Supporters.

A rating of 10 for the "magnificent seven" who made the trip into Wales last night to act as twelfth man for the team. Well done and many thanks.

Credit where it is due...After a traumatic week it shows what we are capable of. All credit to everyone involved, not least those that made what is the journey from hell, to support the team.

A very good draw, against one of the top teams in the league, after a very long journey.  We know that the players have the ability, just need consistency now.
Well done to all involved. Onwards and upwards!
P. S. The forum and Facebook page very quiet now...

Wasn't able to make last night due to work, but huge credit to those that made the trip.

On paper the travel (coupled with being a midweek game), the 3g pitch, Merthyr's home record and coming off the back of a 6-1 battering probably amounted to the worst possible circumstances leading up to the game. I'd certainly thought of it as a damage limitation mission. Whilst a point probably does nothing for our league position, it certainly took a lot of character for the team to go there and get a draw. Well done.

Well done lads. Maybe our passing game is better suited to a 3G pitch?....Thoughts for the future.

A decent pitch does help as it's level but we was awesome and Setch was very vocal motivating the team and my big mouth barking from behind the goal. Every player came across at end of game and clapped us that made the journey it was a great night all round. Bring on King's Langley.

The value of the latest 3G technology was raised after the Redditch game and on balance it appears likely that our preferred passing game is better suited to an artivficial surface than to playing on natural pitches in mid winter but cost is a massive issue? As previously posted if the club decided that this was the way to go I wonder whether there would be Football Foundation(?) grants available if the project could be seen to be of benefit to the community also?

Good point Rod. Our passing game is a whole lot more risky at home...(and some away grounds). You almost have to have another skill in controlling the ball on bumpy pitches. Of course very few clubs have 3G so we are are kind of all in the same boat at the moment. But as you say "our preferred passing game would be more suited" if we had one at the walks.

1.2 million but  because Merthyr are a community club they got a grant. Which with us being having  the community set up now we can apply for grants for stadium improvements.

Do we have to have  reached FA Community Standard first, or do we have that already?

Backie, can this be put forward to Gary Setchell and Stephen Cleave - if they are not already in the know.

Be great to have 3g and feel it would benefit local schools as we could do a lot with it and may be some great pr opportunities too.
