Ilford FC Heritage award
« on: September 13, 2017, 09:23:31 AM »
"It is with pleasure that we are able to announce confirmation of an award (approx 50,000) granted by the Heritage Lottery Fund, to deliver Ilford Football Club's long-awaited Heritage project. . . . Our colleagues at Redbridge Museum (and in particular Gerard Greene) are owed a huge debt of gratitude for their support and expertise in getting this far.

There will be a press briefing shortly. For the club, we hope this will mean many things, but above all an opportunity to re-establish itself at the heart of the local community. The emphasis therefore will be very much on youth, in schools and with students of Redbridge College. Preparation for the Exhibition, celebrating IFC's 137-year association with the town will commence in due course- probably to launch Summer 2018. Work on a new retro-style match programme and website, publication of an accompanying booklet, cataloguing/archiving of materials and an oral histories project - these will come first (as will the recruitment and training of volunteers in heritage matters).. The difference now is that we do have the money to pursue these things!"

I post this because Ilford and Lynn have a couple of players in common including Lynn born Olympic Gold Medalist Joe Dines. Some months ago Ilford did make contact asking for player appearance details and suggesting a friendly match in 2018, perhaps near to the centenary anniversary of Joe's death. I forwarded the friendly request to Norman.

It really is amazing the amount of Grant money that is available out there, IF you are a community owned Club.
What did Norman say?
In life, its important to remember that those that can't, usually teach!

Norman didn't respond.
Leyton are currently Essex County League so perhaps a friendly is not attractive to Lynn other than for the commemorative aspect.
