Almost a year
« on: January 08, 2018, 10:54:56 AM »
It is nearly the year round since Setch was shown the door and replaced by Culverhouse.   Looks a good move for both Managers.  IC is riding on the crest of a wave, top of the League, while Setch has dropped down a couple of levels and found success again at step 5 with Wisbech chasing hard for promotion.

So what have been the differences people have seen since the change ?

We now watch a better standard of football. IC is by far a better manager. Setch is at the right level and happy with his mates.

Completely agree with MacF, absolutely no comparison between Setch and IC in any regard.  Realistically no one really knows long we can keep IC but we have to enjoy it while it lasts, perhaps the bigger question is whether what is being built on the field can withstand IC's departure or will it be back to square one?

The one thing I do miss is the media coverage we had under Setch.   New players comes in there always seemed to be an interview with the player.   Cameron King signed on Saturday, not seen any sign of an interview.    Pretty poor from our Media Department, or as Setch would say... Poor Play.

Since Culverhouse and Cleeve have been together the club has moved forward in nearly every way, better football, better players and the club is running better under Cleeve compared to Buster. I do agree with previous comments tho that access to the players and manager is disappointing but I can live with that for the success we are having.

This is no slant on Setch he did a good job with resources he was given, Buster gave him a shoestring budget but I doubt he would have been able to draw the players culverhouse has brought in.

Money talks! :bankrupt:
"If a window was broken or a drain was blocked up, someone was certain to say that Grissles had come in the night and done it, and when the key of the store-shed was lost, the whole farm was convinced that Grissles had thrown it down the well. Curiously enough, they went on believing this even after

Gone from a pub team to an ambitious one. Very happy with the decision to get rid!

I'm sure he must have the contacts but he still needs enough money to attract the right players to the Club. Contacts are no good without the budget to match!

The problem with all the rumours is we do no know the budget or if there is any slack in it for new signings without departures. We do not know how deep or shallow Mr Cleeves pockets are and we probably never will until it is too late.

Anyone who thinks these players here because they love IC are deluded, if that was the case there wouldn't have been a massive increase in budget, and entry price could have been dropped to £8! :banghead; :banghead; :banghead;

I think itís a case of, a solid pay packet and playing for most likely the best manager In the division, which made the likes of Jarvis, Parker, Gash and Blake-Tracey pick Lynn over other offers last summer.

IC has attracted better players to the club but it's the quality of coaching that shines through compared to the Setch days. I remember the 1-6 hammering at home to Weymouth last year. Setch tried to play a 352 and it failed disastrously; Jordan Yong was all over the place at left centre-back; it was obvious that they hadn't been coached properly. A former Lynn player, who had played at Step 2 told me that the coaching at training was not of a high standard under Setch. Setch was good at motivating but you need more than blood and guts to get into Step 2.

Maybe the coaching is better,but it comes at a cost. :bankrupt:
