Match preview V Gosport

Having cruised to victory over Dunstable on Saturday, Lynn make the long trip to Gosport on Tuesday night to take on the other half of what seems to be a two horse race to avoid relegation.

Gosport spent the opening part of the season under a transfer embargo and had to run with a squad of sixteen as they looked to pay off some of their debts. They had made sufficient progress by mid-November to have the embargo lifted and since then many players have arrived and in early December the club were briefly off the bottom of the league table with a 2-1 victory at Farnborough. This was followed, however, by six games without a goal and they now sit bottom of the table, four points adrift of Dunstable but with three games in hand.

A recent influx of players has seen three players arriving from Portsmouth Academy on a month's loan. Also arriving was Simeon Howell from Flackwell Heath and Pat Suraci from Bognor Regis Town, the latter on loan to the end of the season.

On Saturday Gosport had Howell and Portsmouth Academy player Matthew Mayes in the starting lineup, with Suraci was on the bench. A 5-0 defeat at Banbury left them with a record of having conceded 23 goals in their last five league outings.

Following Saturday's defeat, Gosport chairman Iain McInnes issued a statement offering to reimburse the entry fee of any fans that travelled to the game and 10 towards travel expenses. For Lynn's visit Gosport have once again reduced admission prices to 10 (adults) and 5 (concessions) with children and service personnel (with a valid service card) free.

Gosport are managed by Alex Pike who had a twelve year spell in the Gosport hot seat but was sacked in September only to be re-appointed in December - the eight games since his re-appointment seeing just the one point gained.

Is there a minibus running this time?  :bus:
"If a window was broken or a drain was blocked up, someone was certain to say that Grissles had come in the night and done it, and when the key of the store-shed was lost, the whole farm was convinced that Grissles had thrown it down the well. Curiously enough, they went on believing this even after
