It was a difficult game on a very muddy and rutted surface, and a 1-1 draw was in the end just about acceptable. Once again super sub Toby Hilliard smashed home the equaliser. Some supporters expected perfect passing, but on that surfsce it was tricky. (We dont have the billiard table smooth surface that premier league sides have !). Also the lady referee got a lot of unnecessary male chauvinist comments ?

A disappointing display by both teams on a very poor pitch - just about playable! Both our running attack players (Hawkins and Norman) could not penetrate at speed with control.

Did Michael Clunan get booked for Dissent or for asking her for her phone number (again).  :laughcry: :laughcry: Michael also touched her on the arm as she called him in for his booking and that is not on - albeit it appeared to be an instinctive gesture rather than threatening.

Seriously, she did well considering the theatrics and close attention mobbing by Banbury players and a bit from some Lynn players. Their No11 was extremely lucky to get Yellow - it could have so easily been Red for trampling over (:dontknow::red card: Their No5 (with the beard) could have got a 2nd Yellow.

We were slack to concede but very fortunate to level it. The 5mins of added time went very quickly???

Have to say the surface was awful and not great for any team wanting to get the ball down and pass
Thought the lady ref did very well and agree with 47 about the comments
Have seen much worse make refs and thought she controlled the game really well
Banbury well well organised and hard to break down but it was disappointing  to concede from their first shot on target
Kept going tho and got the reward we deserved
Onwards and hopefully   upwards

My stopwatch was already a couple of minutes over time when we got the notification about 5 minutes added. We did play to exactly 50 minutes in the second half, could have maybe argued the case for an additional minute given that we scored in stoppage time. Banbury can have no complaints about that though, the referee made it clear more than once during their “stoppages” that she was adding the time on. Their manager more than once shouted at their players to stay down.

Given that the assistant on the nearside spoke to their manager two or three times about his behaviour, I was surprised that at no point did the referee get involved.

Also, Clunan’s booking was for a foul in the first half. It was Gash booked for dissent in the second half when appealing for a corner.

I did not think it was even a foul, let alone a booking. He just eased the player off the pitch!  :)

No foul at all the play acting by Banbury was exemplary. Thought referee did okay but very inconsistent more than once.

Very true. We could have got the Banbury captain to roll the pitch for us the amount of time he spent laying on it!

Isn't doing something "more than once" a sign of consistency?  :thanks:
