Dire times at Lowestoft and the projected league moves will only make it worse.

Throughout recent history there have been  clubs that have reached for the stars.

Histon ( Conference)  Boston ( Football League ) Rushden & D ( Football league)  ...Indeed ourselves under the watch of Bobbins.   People love the ride, and the reflective glory.  The trouble is it comes at a price.

The hardcore fans want success but not at any price.  The floating fans want nothing but success otherwise they have no interest in it.  There lies the problem.

Lowestoft had one man bank rolling it.  When he decided it was enough ( for whatever reason) he gave it back to a committee/ Directors  who then had to attempt to pick up the ball and run with it, but seems like they were running through treacle.   Players on big money, falling gates, carried forward debts.  No Big Sugar daddy to prop it up.   Lowestoft were a decent Jewson League team ( Now Thurlow Nunn), but when on an amazing run to find themselves 2 steps away from the Football league.   I know the fans over there loved the ride but were always asking questions about how this all could be sustained, worries about their ground having been sold.  lack of answers to many questions and a total lack of communication from the Club with the fans.

The real fear is that the Club might not only end up in administration but might totally cease to be with no ground to play at.

How many times will this scenario be repeated in the quest for glory?
Why do Clubs never seem to learn from history and keep making the same mistakes?
What's wrong with only spending what a Club can generate from its gates and commercial activities?
What's so wrong with having a Club playing at the level it should be playing at and can afford and sustain?

Until the FA have a 'fit and proper' test or maybe some sort of bond scheme before allowing new ownership this will always be the case and unfortunately you will always have these sort of clubs distorting the 'natural order' of where clubs 'should' be, particularly at our level of the non-league game where a relatively small amount of money can make a huge difference.  Thus there will always be individuals who will want the 'glory' associated with taking a club a few steps up the ladder for as long as it lasts.  Whilst Lynn are at a different point in the cycle to Lowestoft all the indications are that we have a similar (unsustainable) business model so, based on so many other cases, it is probably only a matter of time for us but how many would still snap your hand off for promotion this season?

I don’t see this as ‘Clubs’ more individuals

We are in a better position, at least potentially than many others at our level.  We have a catchment area of almost 150,000, without any competition from any other club.  But we have never let that get in the way of staying where we are.  If we improved the ground by Building proper terraces, covered, at both ends, and brought in the 3 or 4 players to reach a new level, we may attract the many fans of the game who are not attracted at the moment.  The snowball will have started.

Any players we may have a chance of nabbing from them? Whatever happened to Rossi Jarvis signing for us?

Adam,  It makes sense to be in the form of a loan.   Then when the a Far Eastern ( or maybe East European) consortium ride into town with cash on the hip then Mr Cleeve will get a return and some on his investment.

Well Mr Cleeve has mentioned in past programme notes about Eastern Europeans looking around the ground whilst having a drink?  :laughcry: :laughcry: :laughcry:
What really falls me is that people are so clever hiding behind a name and continually calling people out for their opinions! I like real people who can discuss things face to face, please make it a prerequisite that if you join the forum your actual name is visible. Cue posters leaving!!!!!!!!!!!!
