"player of the season" contender 2017-2018
« on: March 19, 2018, 06:53:59 AM »
Just pondering to reflect on my personal player of the season at this stage, there are three that stand out for me in this order :thanks: 1) ryan Jarvis  2) Cameron norman  3) ryan Hawkins..  imo ryan has stood out quietly head and shoulders over most of the team, and we as a team, would not function anywhere near the heights we have without his 7+/10 every game, his willing to have the ball at, and in any situation coupled with his constant ticking over of the play is a pleasure to watch. :dontknow: norman and Hawkins have been superb at times and match winners in their own right  but ryan is the glue holding everything and everyone together  :cup2:

Cameron Norman, for me, although I did see him once just have an average game!  :)

Ryan Jarvis by some distance for me, followed by Blake-Tracey (totally at ease at wing back in a 5, full back in a 4 and also one of the 3 centre halves when needed).  As good as Norman has been, he does have a sometimes want to do a bit too much himself imo.  Could also make a case for either of our centre halves, Ryan has been dependable all season and Tom Ward has controlled the back line well, both when in a four but in particular when we swapped to a back five.

The two centre halfs are certainly making a case TonyM, but shame it wasn't earlier in the season or I might be changing my vote :dontknow:

On The Limited games I've seen I would go for Ryan Fryatt.

Jarvis, Fryatt and Blake-Tracey have been excellent: each worth 7 or 8 out of 10 for their  performances each week and are worthy candidates but just imagine for a minute the side without Norman. It's no surprise that Hereford and Kettering targeted Norman for some tough treatment when we played them: they had done their homework for sure. He has made a massive impact on the right side - how many assists has he made - and I don't remember the last time a player got past him. It's Norman for me no question: 9 out of 10 week in week out.

The entire team have played well: I can't think of anyone apart from Mettam - sorry Leon - who has disappointed.

Cameron Norman for me   :worship:

As mentioned by Stan, he is such a threat that teams are afraid and target him as the danger man. Hereford put two and sometimes three on him to either blank him or take him out of the game. I am somewhat surprised that he does appear to go down easily at times. However, at the speed he travels the slightest bump changes balance.

Kettering also tried to chop him out and their No9 forearmed him in the back during one jump for the high ball and commentators decried Cameron for over acting.

Think this is spot on Ryan closely followed by Cameron with Tom Ward up there as well

Jarvis for me.Norman is a match winner at times but would like to see him come back on his left foot from time to time. Most improved player for me is Fryatt.Much calmer on the ball this season which is definitely due to Culverhouse.

Agree there Long, however early development down to Dad Neil, Setch then to the next stage where the boy became a man in Footballimg terms.  Culverhouse has taken his to the next level again.  I honestly think Ryan could test himself at Conferenc level. The lad has the heart of a lion and would run through brick walls.
