Shaw Lane resign from Northern Prem
« on: June 08, 2018, 05:45:18 PM »
So I would guess a move back north for Hednesford or Coalville on the grounds that they were playing their last season and Banbury will be moved to Southern Central.

By about 700metres! But they are more central and closer to the Northern teams.

Fri Jun 8th at 9:03 pm
Hednesford Town Football Club have this evening been informed that we have been moved from the Southern League Central to the Northern Premier League – following the resignation of Shaw Lane AFC from the league.

As soon as the football club received this news it was decided that an appeal will be submitted – with the management team having spent the last six weeks working hard to recruit a new squad

A club statement reads as follows:

“Hednesford Town Football Club will appeal this decision on the grounds that there are two clubs in the Southern League Central Division who are more northerly than us. These being Coalville Town and Kings Lynn Town.”

We shall aim to bring you the news of the appeal as soon as possible.

Good news that it is not us but Banbury are a better team than Hednesford.
I can't see they stand a chance with their appeal  as it will only result in probable appeals from Coalville and Lynn should they be moved and the process could go on for ages.

Given the timing, and having announced Banbury are going across. I wonder if the SLC might run as a 23 team league next year, with an extra team relegated.

Also Banbury were in the SLS before this announcement. Any idea which Step 4 club is being promoted/reprieved for to fill the step 3 gap?

Coalville and King's Lynn have also been working hard to recruit a new squad! So that argument doesn't wash.

It's Location, Location, Location, Hednesford!

Hednesford Town are called the Pitmen. Now with a nickname like that should they play in the North or South.

More info here on Banbury site

Just seen on Hednesford site that their appeal will not be held until the second of July which leaves themselves,us and Coalville in limbo till then.Seems to me the FA could've sorted this much earlier as the preseason starts just a couple of days later and as always more southern based players may change their preferences if we get moved to the north.I'm of the opinion that Lynn would appeal if moved which would leave all three teams not knowing their destination for an even longer period what a mess from the FA. :banghead; :banghead;

From the Evo-Stik Southern website:

"League Statement.

The League Board recently decided that the 2018/19 League fixtures will be issued at 10am on Thursday 19th July 2018.

Whilst both the Northern Premier League and Isthmian League plan to issue theirs on Thursday 12th July, it is felt that the time frame between our AGM, outstanding Appeals and the time available to look at the initial draft of the fixtures would be too limiting to achieve the same release date."

AGM is supposed to have been yesterday Saturday 23rd June -  :dontknow: :dontknow:

Further to above Post - Copied from Hednesford Club website:

"Hednesford Town Football Club can this evening confirm that midfielder Tom Thorley has left Keys Park in order to sign for Stafford Rangers for an undisclosed fee.

Following the announcement that the Pitmen would be moving into the new Southern League Central division there had been concerns, like others from last season’s squad, surrounding travel situations that would arise from such a move.

As such, with Tom under contract for another year, it was agreed that the club would listen to offers for the player. During this period two sides met the valuation of the player and after Tom held discussions with both clubs, and due to the nature of Stafford’s closeness to his home, Tom has decided to link up with Rangers.

Thorley played over 200 games for the Pitmen after first signing for the club in November 2013. Despite leaving at the end of the 2014/15 season he returned ahead of the new campaign and once again continued to be an excellent servant for us.

Everyone at Keys Park would like to thank Tom for his commitment over the course of the best part of five years and wish him well for the future.

The Pitmen can also confirm that our appeal with the FA over league allocation will be held on Monday 2 July."

So 2nd of July we should get some NEWS!
