FORWARD PLAYERS
« on: December 29, 2018, 12:48:50 PM »
Am I the only one who finds it amazing that now we are in a play off position that HL has been loaned out and JF has been allowed to sign for Downham and Clarke is soon going back to USA .
It's not long ago JF was appearing for 1st X1 off the bench and scoring an important goal.
Unless we have someone coming in what happens if MG or AM get injured as we have no cover on the bench unless PB is taking off his gloves .
Even if we have someone coming in surely HL & JF could have been kept for another week, utter madness.

Not sure if you are the ONLY one who is amazed but I am not in the least bit surprised nor upset at either player being allowed to leave at this point in the season, JF is nowhere near step 3 and as we have Clarke for a few more weeks it makes sense for Harry to go out on loan for now.  Whether fresh faces come in is debatable as I would guess (hope) that neither of these two are 'breaking the bank' so what they free up probably won't be enough in itself for a new player although it may allow IC to balance the squad with a bit more defensive cover.  Could still perm any 3 from Gash, Marriott, Henderson, Hawkins and Parker and Clarke (in the short term) and be happy with that front line.

Coupled to DE and TH leaving, it is a lot of churn in the front line of late.

Though it seems to be part of the strategy under IC this year, have 12/13 first team quality players, no doubt to maximise the budget, and hope it’ll be enough. The squad isn’t as deep as last year, but the first XI is almost as strong.

Last year though, Clunan’s broken foot cost us more than has been credited. We’re only two injuries away from trouble, but you’d imagine then there would be some new additions.

In short, a weak(and cheap) 2nd string is probably by design.

As posted in another Post - What about getting Higgs in from Lowestoft  :dontknow:

He can cover several positions from Midfield (Clunan and Jarvis) to Striker/Support (Marriott, Gash and Parker).

We let him go under Clarke but it was mentioned that we were keeping an eye on him. Lowestoft's season is over so why not bring him back as utility player.

Why was Clark missing again today.
