Tough at the Top
« on: January 22, 2019, 08:16:45 AM »
As we approach the business end of the season, so many games appear to have something on them.
There are four matches tonight in which victories for Stratford and Biggleswade will see Lynn slip to 5th. Even with a nineteen match unbeaten run, Lynn are still having to fight hard just to keep in the mix. At the top, if Kettering lose to Coalville (they drew 2-2 at Coalville), Lynn will be 13 points behind but with two games in hand.
All in all, the match away at Hitchin on Wednesday is a game that Lynn simply need to win if they are to maintain their position in third and keep the pressure on the top two. Hitchin, who are stuck in a relegation fight, have only won one game in their last 6 but that was last Saturday, at home to Stourbridge!
Matches tonight:
Alvechurch v Stratford
Barwell v St Ives
Biggleswade v St Neots
Kettering v Coalville

No, rather that Lynn's 19 match unbeaten run has brought them into the mix. Lynn' s next 4 matches could see significant changes at the top. If Lynn can do really well over this period it will be interesting. Stourbridge have only got 2 games over the same period and one of those is Kettering.
Kettering have got Coalville, Stourbridge and Needham Market over the same period. Carpe diem !  Reel em in !

What on earth are you saying "No" to? I have posted a fairly opinion free piece or at least nothing that is contentious and you have appeared to put a spin on it, implying that my post is itself negative which you are disagreeing with, thus presenting your post as positive.  :dontknow:

Just my opinion but I really hope if we canít overturn the deficit and get up there, that Stourbridge win the league over Kettering. If Stour lose to KTFC, it will give the ominous look of them running away with the league, especially with their games in hand.

Iím also wary of Hitchin, as Iíve seen them a couple of times this season and feel they are in a falsely low position. They seem to create a lot of chances and play good football but struggle to score goals.. Saturdayís result suggests they might be turning the corner (with a couple of players also joining on loan) and we are likely to face a tough test on Wednesday.

It certainly is becoming an exciting time. Hitchin must be buzzing having beaten the leaders on Saturday to get themselves out of the relegation zone. We will have to be on top form to get a result. When they do lose at home it has been by the slimmest of margins.

Iím sure there will be lots of twists and turns before anything starts to sort itself out.

After the shocking start we made to the season Iím
Guessing that back then few would have turned down us being in the play offs come mid Jan.

Stratford go above us by 1 point after tonightís draw.

Couple of snow flurries here in Luton this evening - just down the road from Hitchin. A lot of it has already melted but left a lot of standing water.
