2nd place it is, after a well deserved away win over Stourbridge.

Congratulations to the players and management.

Well that secures Home Advantage for 1st game.

Win that and we have Home Advantage for Final.

If we get that far it now depends on who has won through in the Northern Premier League Play Offs.

If either South Shields (PPG 2.175) or Warrington (PPG 2.1) get through then it would be an Away game for any of the Southern Central teams contesting our Play Offs. King's Lynn (PPG 1.904) Stourbridge (PPG 1.857) Alvechurch (PPG 1.73) and Stratford (PPG 1.71)

However, if Nantwich (PPG1.725)  win through only a Stratford win of Play Offs would give Nantwich a Home Grand Final. Any of Lynn/Stour or Alve would be at Home.

If Buxton (PPG 1.65) were to win through then they would definitely be the Away team.

Clear as Mud.

The SPL play off winners will get less rest for the Super Play Off Final as the NPL Final is contested two days earlier.

Massive well done to all involved, fingers crossed for the play offs now.

Where was Clunan today was he not in the squad??

Fixtures didn't end up being much help with being such an important game today, stratford rested a lot of their regular players today with 5 youngsters making their full team debut so take no notice of their 5-1 thrashing at Kettering.

Encouraging that Stourbridge seemed to play their regular lineup from what I can see so if we were to get them in the final again would have a very good chance.

Other encouraging stat being of course that we've beaten all 3 other play-off contenders in the last month....it's all about how much we have left in the tank though! Come on you linnets!  :cup2: :cup2:

Shows how much has changed since we lost 1-0 at home to Stourbridge last September.

We were languishing just outside the relegation places whilst they were amongst the early pace setters. Looked very much like they were in a two horse race with Kettering while the play offs still looked a very distant target for us.

Since November weíd been on a charge whilst Stourís form fell away somewhat alarmingly since Christmas. A lot of their supporters seem to have pointed at having a small squad and the loss of key players at crucial times.

I always believed that we would get into the top 5 once the ship had been steadied, but never thought we would make up enough ground to actually finish runners up, a fantastic achievement by the team and management.

Says a lot about the strength of last seasonís play off contenders, Slough missed out on a play off place in the NLS on the final day, Kettering and Weymouth winning their respective divisions with Lynn runners up.

Yet Robbo, last seasonís runnaway Champions (Hereford) ended up a lowly 17th in The National League North.  Mind the North section is stuffed full of Ex League Clubs, where as the National South has very few.

FCUM have shrunk abit since we last met them, a lot of their support has migrated to Salford.

Bit of a disjointed season for them, thinking they were going to win promotion again at a canter and sacking the manager who had previously led them to three successive promotions. National North is defintely a tough division. Took Stockport six years to get out of it, and York havenít exactly flourished in that division either.
