Wednesday postponed
« on: April 29, 2019, 10:20:00 PM »
Wednesday's semi play off semi final vs Kings Lynn has unfortunately been postponed & we will keep you all updated when we hear further from the FA

We have received a letter from the FA on the 29th April regards an alleged ineligible player and potential points deduction. The FA asked us to supply relevant information by lunchtime April 30th which we will comply with. We await the outcome from the FA and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and we hope a swift conclusion. The Club will make no further comment until we have heard further from the FA.

(Just like to point out in case it's unclear for anyone reading the above that didn't realise this was a stratford statement & not from king's lynn.)

Gutted about this...swapped my shifts this week at work to be able to attend, talks of it having to be played before the weekend not great. Chuck them out give us a bye. Either way need to postpone the other play off or the other teams will have an unfair advantage with more rest time

This really is a mess and will potentially undermine whoever gets thru this tie.

It would have to be a 5 point reduction to bring Coalville back into contention for 5th (who have already dismissed their squad for the year, and may even have released some players). Which suggests more than 1 player, or that they played more than one game. I wonder if them starting 5 youth team players against Kettering is related to this news.

Hope we don’t end up with the possibility of Saturday then Monday, but leagues tend to be fairly inflexible in this regard.

Will they be liable for csts already incurred by Lynn? :bankrupt: :dontknow:

Awkward situation all round. If Stratford were deducted only 3 points Coalville could argue that if they'd been made aware sooner they could have "tried harder" for the 3 points in their last game. Shocking consequences for the time frame for the games. As if its not bad enough that the NPL Final is 2 days sooner than the SPL so the winners will have less time/rest to prepare.

How about Lynn get "Bye" and Stratford lose ALL points and are Relegated.

Reading Stratford supporters’ take on this last night they’re saying it relates to a player who came from Coalville and has played at Stratford for the last four months!

They may have initially got something wrong when registering but the league need to take some responsibility for this by allowing the situation to go on this long. Stratford have been well in the mix for the top 5 for much of the season so the league and FA have had no excuse for not getting this sorted out earlier.

Looking at the posts I wonder who brought the situation to the notice of the FA.

I hope the Club still gets the important first play-off game to help the club funds otherwise we could be missing out on circa 20k.

How do those of of us who paid online go about getting our monies refunded ?

What a mess this is.

If they are deemed to have broken the rules, I do feel the only route to avoid an increased mess would be to give King's Lynn a bye. Great for progression/avoiding a game, terrible for the loss of finances. I just can't see how they can allow them to play at a later date if the suspected player(s) have played for multiple games, because clubs below will rightly argue against it and appeal. Take a hard stance and kicking them out will still anger the clubs outside who missed out, but they can 'justify' it because of the time frame that's required.

Then depending on severity, starting them with a points deduction next season or lose every point the player(s) have played in which may push them close to relegation places, but safe enough to avoid them. Any indication the player(s) also played in the Cup which they won too?
