Last night saw the last of the Friendlies with a 3-3 Draw against a useful Charlton Under 23's.
Lynn went 2 - 0 down in 4minutes with a penalty and being cut wide open by some very fast passes and a non-existent defence.
The Team took some time to settle down and then started to pass the ball around and gain some composure. I feel that Charlton sat back to soak up some pressure to give their defence and midfield something to do. It was good for us as well to be able to work some good moves together. Crosses and free kicks got the ball into the area but nothing until Clunan fouled and Kelly slotted home a penalty. Hawkins then smashed home a cross from our young 17year old No2 (??) who had a good game.
2 - 2 at halftime.
Mass changes for the 2nd half with Marriott, Henderson, Jarvis, McAuley, Jones and others coming on. We used both wide players to good effect and our No4 made some good attack link ups with Hendo and McAuley (who was giving instructions, encouragement and praise - lovely to see and hear! - to No4 (???).
It went a bit flat for periods as the "new" team settled in but Lynn continued to build attacks and the defence line was better maintained by Rory McAuley et al.
Charleton were organised and slick but we tackled well. A great cross from the left was met by Aaron Jones bullet of a header and Lynn were 3 - 1 up.
The gears were moved up by Charleton and attacks came thick and fast. Michael Gash missed a sitter going just wide of post. A couple of "Handbags" occurred but overall Ref handled the game well. Finally Charlie Congreve (Pedro subbed about 20mins into 2nd half) was beaten by a tight angle bullet shot from 10yards on the left.
Final Score 3 - 3 - A fair result and a good work out for both teams.
