Clarke signings
« on: September 25, 2019, 05:32:40 PM »
Just had a thought whilst others poked fun at Clarke on another thread.

Which players did Clarke bring in that are still with us?
Jones, McCauly, Stewart, Richards any others?

Think a certain Robert Back has more to do with those signings than Simon Clark. Maybe not Richards.  What happened to the other signings Clark made ?

Think Clark’s signings were more Thomas Beevors and Gaughran.

Lee Beevers - don't think he is with a club. Last heard of at Matlock
Valter Rocha - last heard of Mildenhall Town
Kalern Thomas - Coalville

Really? Surely Clark was the manager when they were signed?

Agreed Stan We have to give Clarke some credit He certainly signed those mentioned
Back and Fryatt certainly deserve great credit for Henderson and Marriott in particular

Players help Managers get other players. Sonny Carey was brought to the Club by Jarv, but ok IC signed him.

Whoever Clark signed/retained it would seem they didn’t play for him.  Was it really just 12 short months ago, things changed. How time flies.

It is, of course, managers who make the final decisions about which players to sign. No one is defending Clarke's dreadful period with the club but he did make some decent signings.

Ok Stan he made some decent signings, on the other foot he made equal amount of very ‘average’ ones.

But this was a discussion about his good signings. The bad signings don't cancel them out :laughcry:

For balance Stan. Have to be seen to keep the balance.  I wonder what it was with Clark why the players didn’t seem to want to play for him. Maybe the Culverhouse effect.

Balance if we are expressing opinions but not if we are dealing with facts

Balance as in opinions Stan.  Unless you are on the ‘know’ a lot posted on here is opinions. Anyway Clark is gone and Culverhouse is back in situ.  Things happen for a reason.

This thread started by asking which players signed by Clarke, were still with Lynn. This is a question of fact. Some decided to take the opportunity to remind us yet again how bad Clarke. That is not balance, it is an attempt to undermine a statement of fact under the pretext of it being balance.

Well Stan, fact is he was a poor appointment. As for players who put pen to paper while he was here there are still a couple and decent players they are too.
