Movement at Norwich with them announcing two players now being put out on loan.   :dontknow:

Good to see an extra 'body' added to the squad and another link to our county cousins which is also a big plus but not sure we are short of 'attacking midfielders' and the fear is that he will be splitting game time with Henderson, Carey, Kelly and Hawkins (whose place in the squad when the other three are available must be in doubt).  Can only think that IC and the Norwich set up are hoping he can play in a more advanced role as we do look woefully short of forwards - basically Gash and Marriott and nothing else close to being able to play at step 2.

I can see where you are coming from Tony, but I wouldn't be surprise if at least one, maybe two of the players you mention are going to be involved in loan deals themselves.   :dontknow:

Talking to a colleague this morning who knows NCFC inside out, this lad is highly thought of at Norwich as a star of the future. he is one of the quickest at the club and talented on the ball , so could be seen to play more upfront just behind Gash & Marriott

Seen a few vids on you tube and he certainly can shift.   Another strong added to the bow.

Graham, that is my point, that is arguably the best position of Henderson, Carey and Hawkins (and possibly Kelly too).  Certainly in the current lineup it would be a huge compromise to move Henderson from that role and I think he is a shadow when he is asked to play that bit deeper as 'part of the midfield'.  Does your colleague think the new lad could play as an out and out striker as cover / replacement for Adam?  Obviously the pace is less at National North but as Alfie has shown standing up to the physical demands can be just as tough, also the new lad has hardly played a first team game this season so will need a bit of time to get 'match sharp'.

Tony, do you think a player with pace to burn might be one hellva an impact player from the bench ?   Not saying that is the case.

Also with Kelly experiencing injury problems of late the new lad Power could come in as a support to Hendo, plus a back up to Marriott..

Just throwing some ideas out there.

Think we will have to see if the other addition is an out and out forward.....but I could see if we were playing against a big defence unit and struggling to break them down , then a change to out and out pace...ie Hawkins and Power for Gash and Henderson/Marriott, might be an interesting option for the last 20 mins

I suppose the concern would be what Norwich's expectations are - having put him on a three year deal they have brought him back from Ross County where he didn't get minutes so you would think they are sending him to the Walks in the expectation that he will get more senior opportunities, possibly not just as an impact player off the bench?  Perhaps the experience of Payne will have opened a few eyes along the A47 as to what the standard is at National North, does anyone know if anyone from Colney ever gets along to the Walks to check on Alfie's progress?

I understand Neil Adams has kept a close eye on Payne.   Letís not forget with players joining us on loan from Norwich they still have the advantage of training at Colney on a regular basis.

He said he thought that Power was more of a "winger" and Norwich tended to play him out wide

Sounds a good acquisition.  Agree with the point that new additions can unsettle existing successes, (as they all are, at present).  As Del Bosque, the great Spain manager said when asked why he hadnít picked a goal-scorer, he replied that he had picked 8 players who could all make and/or score goals.  They certainly could !  We are of similar vein this season, so donít need another out and out forward, unless Adam moves on.... He sounds ideal for undoing big or physical defences, because he plays with speed and ability on the ground, and itís only continually bunging in hopeful crosses that fails to unlock such tactics.  Weíll see, of course, but I agree that Hendo shouldnít be moved back at all, and that we already have an abundance of attacking midfielders, but we also have injuries.  But the midfield is why weíre top scorers in the country, which I think Adam would acknowledge that this strength has greatly assisted his superb individual record.
